    First quilt

This is my first quilt. Sewing machines don't like me so it's hand pieced and hand sewn. I learned a lot, made a few mistakes. But I enjoyed the whole process.

Gosh I would not do it by hand either. But my sewing machine and I have a good relationship.

This is amazing--all hand pieced! Great job! By the way, getting friendly with the sewing machine might not be the worst friendship you could make, and doing quilt pieces might be a great place to practice. If the machine is balky, you might consider having someone do a professional tune up and you might just find your sewing machine and you could become friends! But good luck and keep quilting, however you end up doing it.

Its very pretty and as you seem very accomplished at hand piecing you could do some of the really nice but complex paper peiced quilts.

This is beautiful! I hope you keep quilting. You seem to have a natural talent for it.

Thanks. I made some mistakes. I don't know what to do about the sewing machine phobia. My mom and home ec teacher tried to teach me, but the minute I touch one, something goes wrong with it. So far, I find this very relaxing. I've made another one since this one. I did a better job at the "cheater's bind", but didn't pay enough attention to cutting the squares. So, it's a learning process!

Thanks all. I'm working on quilt #3 now. It's another big block style. I think I'd like to try something more detailed the next time. I made a couple pot holders before I tried the first quilt that had triangles and such. Since I'm hand sewing anyway. I was thinking a dresden plate something....maybe a table runner.

Wow! Fantastic job Wendy. Your first quilt top has come together beautifully. Not sure I would have the patience for doing this by hand.
I have a girlfriend who started quilting by hand but once she saw what I was doing on my machine, she was a convert!
As we are both new to quilting it has been a super fun and exciting adventure so far. (We're hooked)
I hope you get the chance to become better acquainted with your machine.
May your sorrows be patched and your joys be quilted
