Default Just VENTING Give credit when you steal my designs

In August 2018 I entered a contest to combine two gemstone patterns and create a new bicolored gemstone. I used the Amethyst block and recolored it to be a bi colored Ametrine. It looks like this

I won the contest. Now on facebook I see Jayne' Nelson (Olympia, Washington), gemologist/quiltmaker/engineer advertising her original creation of the Ametrine block as her qualification for teaching the gemstone pattern. No mention or credit for my original creation over a year ago.

Here is what her "original" design looks like.

I am used to being copied. I take it as a compliment. But at least give me some credit for the original design.

Have you contacted her? It wouldn't sit well with me either. Especially since she even stole the name. I'm sorry this happened .

Oh, and I want to add that I like yours so much better.

Yours looks a lot prettier than hers!! I agree you got ripped off here. I'd be mad too. I don't know that there is anything you can do about it since your design wasn't copywrited. I am sorry this happened to you.

This would upset me . And truly I like yours better. I wish you would get in touch with her, I think it is only right.

That's a bunch of crap!! Besides the fact that your design is much better than the one she has done.

Yours is so pretty and well balanced. Hers looks like she comes from a schizophrenic world. She just doesn't pull it off. She should be ashamed of herself.

Her "original" isn't at all like yours......You did an amazing job Denise, you really did!
My sister-in-law would love this......her fav colors are of the purple and gold (or yellow) family.

It's wrong to be copied without acknowledgement....I agree....and I also agree that it is a compliment to you although it isn't right, it really isn't.

I think you have a better range of colors in your design. You also broke the color split in a more pleasing way along that diagonal.

The harsh horizontal line does not help that second design at all.

I wish I could say that this was the first person who has had their patterns poached. Sadly it has happened this last year to a toy designer who did copyright her patterns. She's spent a lot of $ on lawyers to get the other patterns removed. She's found another set recently. It's crazy that people think they can claim it as their own work.
I have taught classes using other people's patterns. I never claim them to be my own, and they usually have to buy the pattern themselves, or it's included in the class fee.
I hope you get some resolution to this problem.

Oh my gosh! That really irritates me so I can only imagine how you feel. I'm glad you contacted her to at least call her out on in. Yours is beautiful, BTW! If you have other original patterns, you should consider writing a quilt block book, I'd buy one!
