    Default The wine horse race

Good morning friends of the forum, this week we have received two very strong storms with a lot of rain and with a very angry sea, the waves have reached 8 and 9 meters, so I hope all of you are well although your weather is not very sunny. Today I have to start my story coming to a very distant time because the legends tell that about the year 1250 when the whole part southern Spain was dominated by the Arabs, in the town of "Caravaca de la Cruz" when the tradicion is currently celebrated there was a siege of the Arabs and the people ran out of water and diseases arrived, so a group of gentlemen with their horses they went down to where the enemies were for water and when they couldn´t catch the water they took wine and crossed the enemy lines running next to the horses, and that feat after a few years began to be celebrated at the feasts of the Virgin of the Santisima and Vera Cruz of Caravaca, is celebrated on May 1 and 2. Although this tradition was a little forgotten in the nineteenth century by the wars sance 1959 it once again had its importance and today is a very famous holiday, in it you can see magnificent horses of pure English and Spanish-Arab race adorned with tailores embroidered blankets and men who compete with them to climb the slope that according to history rose the Templar lords. As you can see from the photos men have to make a great effort to follow the horse and not fall to the ground because it would be disqualified from the race I also put some pictures of how children learn to preserve this ancient tradition. You have the most interesting traditions, thank you for sharing them.
TRUTH is seldom appreciated, unless you happen to agree with it. When you don't agree, you just call it rude.

Wow, those are some intricate and ornate blankets. Very majestic. Thank you so much for sharing.

I hope everyone is safe from the rains and storm.

Enjoy life and do what makes you happy. Everything else will follow.

Every day I try to do one thing that challenges my comfort zone.
