Default For the book lover on your Xmas list

I don't normally recommend books but one I am reading is SO excellent I can hardly put it down. It is called The Institute by Stephen King. It is a long one, 561 pages, but I have read 350 pages in two days. It is not creepy or gory, no zombies or people coming back from the dead. To me there is nothing better than a really long book if it is a good one. Lots of psychological suspense and no boring or draggy parts. So if you have someone who loves books or is hard to buy for, get this one!

I just finished that book a week ago. I liked it too and despite the many pages, it was a quick read. Just couldn't put it down :-)

I read The Shinning before they even thought about a movie. It's so good. I'm going to try your suggestion out before it's a movie. lol

I love good book recommendations - thank you for this! Especially for this as I would normally never turn to a Stephen King book to read.

The movie, The Shining, was filmed here in Colorado at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park. I don't really go in for paranormal stuff, so I don't read Stephen King, & I didn't watch the movie. My preference is Christian fiction. I like a good romance, some suspense, etc. I read a lot of Amish fiction. You'll find lots of bargains (used books) at Thrift Books on line or new from Christian Book Distributors. I just placed an order at both places. CBD is having a Cyber Mon. sale. I ordered next year's boxed Christmas cards -- only $2.49 ea. for a box of 20 cards. I send/give >100 cards each Christmas.

I read on my Kindle, most of the books are free. The last series I read was Holiday Mail-Order Bride Box Collection. I found it very entertaining, and they are based in Washington and Oregon back in the 1800's.

The book I am reading now is the Paris Seamstress. I had seen it at Costco and took a picture of it to remember. Imagine how happy I was to find it for free on Kindle, along with another I snapped a picture of, The Secret Orphan. I'll be reading that next.

I think the one and only King book I read was The Amulet....and that was many years ago. They did film one of his movies not far from here, The Rose (?), but I did not watch it. I'm not one for freaky, scary things.

Not all of his books are freaky. He did write The Shawshank Redemption. That became one of my favorite movies.
