    Good Sunday Morning

    Good Morning All,

Well, there is a home school room completed. Quilts put back in the cedar chest and all cleaned up. The sewing room is still in progress. The albums are mostly in the cabinet. I'm scared to add the last few, but they fit in one of the base cabinets. Hopefully today, I can clean up the scraps and figure out where everything else is going to go.

Monday is back to the old grind. Home school and family dinner.

Where Mike works is doing a Secret Santa. He drew a name. I've met the person a couple of times. I don't envy Mike picking out a gift for someone he hardly knows. I suggested some nice fake eye lashes because that was the first thing I noticed about the person, then fancy socks. We'll see what he chooses later today.

Coffee pot is done, time to have a cup and get ready for church. Have a wonderful day!

    Re: Good Sunday Morning

Good morning Katrina. Have an awesome day.

While I was reorganizing my sewing room I found some beautiful Christmas fabric that I had. I knew exactly what it was for but don't ask me where I bought it, lol! So I cut it up and made the Triangle Frenzy table runner. I ran into problems and took out a seam at least 6 times and then decided it was time to step away and take a break. I did get back to it, seems the piece was not exactly the same size and luckily I had a spare left over from cutting. Well that worked and now it is ready to be sandwiched. This one is for ME!! On Friday I made 6 rice bags and yesterday I made the removable covers for them.

The Black Friday sales emails are so tempting. Connecting Threads have 1 yard cuts at $2.50, my o my. So I put some in the cart, then I added a few things to get the free shipping. WHOA there, put the items back that I really didn't need in the first place. The fabric alone came to $10 plus another $10 for shipping, so I decided to remove that too. It wasn't a NEED item but a WANT item. My wallet is a lot lighter.

Today we are headed out to Almonte for a Coins and Strings open house. This is at a Coin Shop that hubby has been to a few times. The show is Freaks and Errors, finest public display of rare and exotic error coins. They also have music. Thankfully it is Sunday as the Quilt Store is directly across the street and they are closed today, haha. And we are expecting a little snow later today as well. Nothing like what you got Joy, maybe 2 inches.

This little town has been in the movies quite a bit. They have made a few Hallmark Movies there. And just this past year, Justin Hartley (from The Young and the Restless and now This is Us) made a movie there but I don't think it is out yet.

Happy 1st of December my friends. Enjoy this day.
Blessed are the children of the piecemakers for they shall inherit the quilts!

      Re: Good Sunday Morning

Good Morning, Everyone ~ A tad bit chilly here this morning. Only 13 deg. on our therm. & 10 on the web site, with wind chill of 4 deg. A cold crisp morning. Looking outside, our street is an icy glare. I'll have to be careful driving to church today. I wonder if the streets have improved any since Thanksgiving. IMO, our city didn't do a very good job of clearing the snow with this latest storm. And we haven't had our usual warm up to help melt it off. We might see 50's later this week.

Yest. was a blustery, windy day. It blew the snow & caused visibility problems, so several highways were closed part of the day. Some of the wind gusts in the mts. were 60-80 mph.

I didn't get a whole lot accomplished yest. One load of laundry, 40 min. of FMQ (making good progress there), & did some on line browsing for a new laptop. Very discouraging. I was hoping for a Black Friday or Cyber Mon. sale. Still haven't found what I'm looking for. Some of the reviews on new models of laptops are not that great. I'm hoping & praying for just the right one before year's end. The 17.3" screens are more expensive, of course, but that's what I want.

Church this a.m. It's Communion Sun. There also will be some baptisms. Yest. was the last day for our retiring pastor. He will be missed. A search committee will be looking for a replacement.

Jordan Fabrics is extending their Black Friday sale. They have some Moda Christmas fabrics for 40% off. I think those 1/2 yd. bundles still are available, too, in case you're wanting to build your stash.

I plan to do more FMQ this afternoon.

        Re: Good Sunday Morning

        Good morning everyone,

It's a beautiful sunny morning. DH said the sunrise was beautiful, but giving us warning, possible snow - a few inches. Yesterday was busy. I did a grocery run as I needed to pick up basics and lemon juice. I prepped 4 bags of apple pie/crumble for freezer and made a crumble for dinner. I finished the binding on GS quilt. I started xmas decorating. I put up the garland on the banister - 40', added star lights and mostly plastic balls. We still have some glass ones, that the cats haven't knocked down on the ceramic floor. So I replaced those with plastic ones that look pretty good looking up. I will continue decorating today, and hopefully it will be all done. Usually takes us 2 days, but doing it alone asDH is finally closing up the furnace room area wall with insulation & gyprock. We had a foundation repair done 3-4 yrs ago, and he's finally doing it now. We found another dead mouse in his train room. We can't figure out their entry point.

Monique - enjoy your day trip. I really love the antique stores there. So much to see. My GF has been in many of those Hallmark movies, as an extra. She had her picture taken with Justin, but unfortunately I don't know him as I haven't watched either of those shows. She's an extra in 7-8 movies per year. She gets a kick out of doing this when she's not travelling. I wasn't as good with shopping. I'm still tempted with the CT sale, although I placed an order ealier in the week. I did succumb Friday to sale at LQS in Stittsville.

Today I will continue decorating, and I also hope to get to my sewing room. I want to make a new insulated ironing pad for our VQC group tomorrow. I know I should take time to rest as I'm still coughing.

Have an enjoyable day. Be safe on the roads. Stay warm inside if you don't have to go out.
Enjoy life and do what makes you happy. Everything else will follow.

Good morning friends.. I got my computer keyboard and mouse replaced. How does one wear out such things?? maybe by having them over 15 years with use an everyday habit...... Now that I think of it, that would break any keyboard & mouse.

My oldest, DD#1 is here from Florida this week and we are having fun catching up with each others daily life.. She's my 4th generation Nurse.. My Gram was a mid wife, My Mom an LPN, I retired as a RN, Assoc degree. And DD#1 is an RN, ASN and still going to school. Continuing education is a must these days to keep up with all the new technology in Medicine.

Weather here is not to bad as yet. Chilly and damp, but not knee deep in snow nor bone crunching cold. For that I am thankful.

Heading out to my brothers on Monday... he is 6.5 years younger and lives about an hour's drive west of me. He is going thru some life changing events. Wife had to be put in nursing home -she has Alzheimer's/ dementia stage 4 out of 5.. And he has to have vein stripping surgery..to open the flow of blood to his right leg. He is on the program for this month. I'll go to the hospital with him since his wife and children won't be able to be with him.

DD#1 and I found a beautiful batch of Kitchen Christmas towels for 50 cents each.. So guess what everyone is getting who is on our family and friends list... I'll modify them: cut in half and add a top for hanging on a stove, refrig or cabinet door handle. I made a few over 8 years ago and everyone loved them. I figure it is time to replace or introduce another one to everyone. They are so useful and inexpensive.

Stay warm and healthy dear ones. I was reminded so recently of the many blessings friends are and was blessed to have so many in my life. Never take for granted anyone in your life. They are a blessing sent by God to help you thru a troubled spot or to make your life more enjoyable.. Share the love, people.

            Good Morning, and Happy Sunday!

December 1st already! Where does the time go? It will be a bittersweet Christmas this year -- Mom's last one at the house. I need to email the facility admissions gal, if she tries to call me on my cell during business hours, I won't get the call. She should call my work number. My cell phone says 'no service' when I am at work. Last I heard, my employer was looking into the problem.

I have been able to resist most of the sales so far. I did order a couple of Christmas gifts on Thanksgiving, as they were 50% off. I am thinking of buying my Texas sister a key finder/item locator. https://www.amazon.com/WOSPORTS-Wire...ALBWQZV&sr=8-3. She is always complaining about losing her keys. Of course, it would require her to remember where she put the remote...

Lots to do before visiting Mom and grocery shopping. Have a wonderful day!

Good morning everyone!!! It is chilly here this morning, but not like Joy's 13 degrees . . brrrrr!!! They have been calling for rain/snow/sleet this morning but so far just a little rain. My guild's Christmas meeting is today. There was a chance it would be cancelled, but I just heard that it is going on as planned. As head of the boutique, I will need to get there early so I can get everything set up. I forgot that all members are supposed to bring a dessert so I guess I will have to stop at the store on the way.

I am starting to get things ready for my big move!!! Settlement on the house is one week from tomorrow --- Dec. 9. My appliances are to be delivered that day also but I don't know what time yet. Dec. 10, I will be meeting the movers at the storage unit so they can load up my "stuff" and then take it over to the house. Comcast is supposed to be at the house that same day sometime between 12 and 2 to install internet and TV. All the utilities are set to turn over to my name on the 9th. I have gas heat, which everyone tells me is really good. We shall see. I also opted for a gas stove. Tried cooking on a gas stove at my son's a couple of years ago and that click, click, click that I heard when I turned on the burner scared me and I turned it off. My daughter-in-law told me it was normal because there is no pilot light any more. I am a little nervous about that, also. My husband always wanted gas heat and stove so I think that is why I opted for the gas stove. Again . . . we shall see.

I need to start getting ready for the day ahead. Stay dry, warm (or cool if in the south) and safe.

              Nancy

                Good morning everyone,
Well the predicted storm is finally hitting us. When I took the dogs out a little after 7 everything was coated in a solid sheet of ice. I'm so glad that DD left for Cincinnati yesterday instead of this morning. Traffic on the highway is going really slow...that only happens when it's bad. I got busy first thing and made a huge pot of vegetable soup and then made some home made granola bars. They're interesting....but at least no preservatives or chemicals in them. I've been having issues with health and this is the first day in a while that I can actually say I feel Good!!!! So now I'm going to settle back and enjoy the rest of the day with a book, sewing machine, computer (for quilting porn) and a blanket. and perhaps the endless cup of tea too......
I hope you all can also enjoy the day.
                Barbara

                  Good Morning,

I am saddened this morning as I read "Sad Commentary" posted by ktdid. Grandma always told me "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all". I have to remind myself of that when it comes to social media because it's so easy to say whatever you want on "paper". I hope the post gets shut down before it gets too nasty.

Yesterday hubby and I did a little shopping at Menards. We had our final Thanksgiving gathering in the afternoon. We were the first people there and the last to leave, just like my hubby likes it. This morning we went to church, I cooked a big breakfast, and just woke from a nap.

I'm headed into my sewing room to start Bonnie Hunter's mystery quilt, Frolic. It's a first for me and I'm not even sure I will finish it. I started last year and didn't make it past the second clue. I've already announce the kitchen is closed for the day unless it's for warming up leftovers. That will definitely allow for extra sewing time.

                    Re: Good Sunday Morning

                    Enjoy your sewing time, Robin.

After I posted, I went to get ready for church. I'm laughing at myself. I had my hand on a red blouse and talked myself out of it and put on an ivory lace bodice shirt. Any way, I finished getting ready, and sat back down at the computer to look through FB and leave a message for my MIL. Jim called and that's when the trouble began. After I got off the phone, I knocked my coffee cup, sloshed coffee all over my shirt, and pants. I scooted the computer back and went to get out of the wet clothes. I pulled the red shirt out and a pair of jeans and changed. I gathered up all of my lights/ whites and started the washing machine. Finally made it back to the table with a rag and was surprised there wasn't that much coffee on the table nor on the chair. Easy peasy, I thought. I rinsed the rag and headed back to the table. I found the coffee. All over the floor. Mercy, 2 outfits and mopping first thing in the morning!

Jim picked me up for church, we were there before 7:30. He wasn't feeling well. By the end of rehearsal he came back to sit with me for Sunday School, he was looking pretty rough. When Sunday School was over, he was ready to go home, but he's in the band and no other guitarist was there today. So he stayed until the prayer before the sermon. I took the kids to children's church and just waited for him to finish the last song. Hopefully, he'll get enough Russian Tea in him to break this bug up. I told him if he was still sick tomorrow, keep his germs to himself. Just let me know if I needed to cook or not.

Mike and I went shopping for his Secret Santa. We found two pair of socks on sale that were really cute. One had a quote between the two socks, the other had Christmas lights and said Lit. It fits the person he's giving them to. Now he has to figure out something for Morgan.

Time for me to figure out what's going on in my sewing room. I need to finish cleaning up the floor so I can get the file cabinet in place and refilled!

                    Have a great afternoon!

Indeed, lifelong learning is now a must. I had a bachelor's degree pre-licensure. About 10 years ago, at age 52, I went back to school and earned a master's degree in nursing. My stepdaughter is now in a doctoral program, studying to become a nurse anesthetist. She will actually earn three degrees as part of this program, from three different institutions -- a master of science in biology, a doctorate of nursing practice, and a certificate of anesthesia.

Nancy, you will learn to love the gas stove once you adjust to it. Unlike an electric cooktop, it heats up quickly and stops generating heat as soon as you turn the burner off. I find it way easier, and don't burn things like I always did on an electric stove.
