Hi there, hope someone can help me.

I am making a padded headboard.

Have solid blue fabric to which I have added applique flowers. I used heat and bond.

Do you think I should also sew all,around them. It would be very slow and tedious.

Don't want you do if not necessary.

If I was doing that project I would stitch around the appliques even if it was a straight stitch. If I were making it I would want to pull the fabric quite tight so it would be smooth and that could pop some of your applique stitches.

make sure it is the Heat n Bond you can sew through.

Yes, I would stitch if it's a piece that you want to have for a long time. Use the wonder under light, or a product similar will be easier on the sewing and not gum up your needle.

Like others I would suggest stitching it down. You could do some Trapunto stuffing to have some of the flower petals pop.

It totally depends on which heat and bond you used. If you used Heat and Bond lite you really do need to sew it down. If you used heat and bond regular you don't have to sew it down, but you can if you want added security. It probably won't work itself loose for years, and even if it does you can just take your iron and fuze it back down again. If you used Heat and Bond Ultra don't try to sew it down. It will gum up your needle and may damage your sewing machine.

Thanks for all your help. I have decided to stitch it down. Have finished, will finish tomorrow. Next job is to attach some of the same fabric flowers up the wall. Any ideas???

I had a neighbor who used liquid starch to apply fabric to the wall of her daughter's room. It washed off when they moved out, but they were only there for a year, so I can't speak to longevity.

I've used lite Steam-a-Steam 2 to attach fabric to picture mats. May work great on a wall. It will release with some steam without damage to the cardboard matting, so it might be the same on a painted wall. Give it a test. Don't let anyone seeing you applying it. How crazy will you look ironing your wall?
