Make a "Square Knot" Quilt with Jenny Doan

When it comes to tying knots, I’m all thumbs! But this week’s Square Knot quilt is so quick and easy, you’ll be whipping up those “knots” faster than a well-...

    Enjoy !

God, Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The stash to make a quilt to help me cope,
A quilt to give to comfort those I love in times of hurt, fear and uncertainty.
And the courage to keep on sewing when life itself seems held together by a single thread of hope.

I look at most of her videos and think to myself, I can make that scrappy. Thank you Annika for the link this morning.
Blessed are the children of the piecemakers for they shall inherit the quilts!

I can see me making this one, even have the jelly rolls I can use. I was hoping for a different tutorial today, the one we saw her working on with Sue Daley when we were at the Fall Forum retreat. Hope that one comes out soon.

Funny, my first thought was if I could use a layer cake, and I think it would work.

I love it. I can see it scrappy but also use a layer cake.

I have some remainders of a fat quarter that I'm thinking will work for a baby quilt. I may try that later.

If you make 49 squares, like she did, wouldn't it take more than one jelly roll? Or do you think there is enough left over on the strips to do additional blocks?

I wondered the same thing when I first watched the video this morning, then realized after cutting four 4.5" and four 2.5" strips (total 28" used per strip), that left about 14" to 16" unused, which in itself isn't enough for another block....but, most jelly rolls have duplicate strips, so if you have two unused 14" pieces of the same print, then yeah you may be able to get 49 blocks.

I love this! And she used such cute material this time too. I can picture this made in lots of different fabrics for a completely new look each time.

Thank you for posting this. I had thought there wouldn't be enough for 7 squares x 7 squares. Your explanation helps a lot!
