    Default Crochet for the streets

Good afternoon to all the friends of the forum, today again I will show some photos of my country although it will not be of an old tradition because it was only 6 years ago that they began to celebrate it but if it is a new one and it serves to show that women and their crochet, knitting or needle work even serve in this new century of technology. I am going to show you an old medieval town of which we have many in Spain, and some women who came together to beautiful their town in the celebrations that are celebrated in August and as they decided to make awnings and parasols to hang them from rooftops and shade in the hottest month of the year and as they were going to leave it on the street they decided to use plastic bags that they cut to transform into strips like wool, that way they reused the plastics that are so destroying the fields and seas and transformed them into beautiful rugs. These job are off-hook when summer ends and the sun does not heat up so much and they keep it for the following year that they will put it back together with what they have done that year to gradually fill the entire town with their jobs and their adorable parasolsClick image for larger version.

There is a group here that crochets/knits things for the outdoors. Not quite as fancy as yours though! I have seen trees with them around the trunks, and also bicycle racks covered in crochet. Makes me happy when I come across them!

Winnower the town is called Valverde de la Vera in Caceres which is a province that has a border with Portugal, and in addition to its houses and its old streets it has the ruins of the castle of the Counts of Nieva and was built in the thrirteenth centuri. Bubba the ladies of Valverde had also seen the things that are done all over the world but they chose the parasols because they served to protect themselves from the sun and could keep for many yearsClick image for larger version.

Those are awesome! You'd never know they were made with plastic bags. Thanks for showing them. You know we want more.
