    Default "Romeria del Rocio"

One more week I will show you some photos and tell you another of our traditions, I hope you like it and I would like to see some of your traditions, surely they are as fun and original as ours. Today I will show you the pilgrimage of "Rocio", and it is dedicated to the Virgin of the same name but it is also know as the "Blanca Paloma" "White Dove" its location is in a beautiful landscape belonging to the "Doņana National Park" place where a large number of birds from all over Europe spend the winter. Speaking of the pilgrimage of the "Rocio", people from all over Andalusia come and the most traditional way to get there is by carts, similar to those of the American West, although most of them are drawn by oxen, the "romeros" as those who go are called on the carts, they are adorned with flowers, fabrics and garlands, and as the trip usually lasts a week at night they camp in special places and the dances and parties last for hours, also people come dressed in typical costumes. I still have many more traditions to tell and if it doesnīt bother you next week another tradition.Click image for larger version.

These are beautiful traditions, and so happy they are kept alive. It's lovely to hear about and I wish that one day I could visit.

As a child I remember some processions, but these traditions have been dropped where we are. Sad.

Enjoy life and do what makes you happy. Everything else will follow.

Every day I try to do one thing that challenges my comfort zone.
