It's Thursday and the last day of October WOW!!

Good morning friends. Yes, the last day of October and Halloween. It is going to be a very wet evening for all those trick or treating. I have prepared 25 bags and will have lots leftover as I bought too much. Oh well.

And today also marks the 1 year anniversary of Bonnie's passing. I miss her so much. But we made wonderful memories in our short time together and those will always be close to my heart. Here is a picture of both of us at the Relay for Life in 2016.

I made my spaghetti sauce yesterday and it smelled so good in here. I also had a short visit with a neighbour. I got into the sewing room in intervals and cut up more nighties. This will be a daunting task.

Not sure what is going on today just yet. Hubby isn't up yet. Maybe a trip into town later.

    Have a wonderful day everyone.
Blessed are the children of the piecemakers for they shall inherit the quilts!

Re: It's Thursday and the last day of October WOW!!

Good Morning, Everyone ~ Another chilly a.m. Our thermometer reads 9 deg. The weather site says it's colder than that. We made it up 34 deg. yest. The sun came out mid-day & it was sunny with blue skies all the rest of the day. It was cheerful to see the sun. Our neighbor was out at 5:45 a.m. clearing our driveway & front walk for us.

BSF was canceled yest. due to the weather. I hadn't planned to go anyway. I stayed in & took it easy. I'm in the middle of another riveting book by Doris Elaine Fell. I have several of her books. I'm re-reading books from my library. I have others I want to buy, but I'm holding off for a while. I've never been interested in having a Kindle.

It's going to be a very chilly night for the trick-or-treaters. We haven't participated in many years. We leave our porch light off.

Good Morning Everyone, Monique, it's hard to believe that Bonnie left a year ago. You were such a wonderful friend. I'm sure she is smiling on you today.

I visited my doctor yesterday and got shots in both of my thumbs for my arthritis. I also found out that my RA marker is very high, meaning I have rheumatoid arthritis. At least it explains why some days I hurt so bad I can barely move. I'm holding off on starting medication until I can do some research and see what options are out there. I also want to visit a specialist. My DD and DGD both have the same thing. It's sad to think I may have passed it to them. It scares me to think of how this may impact my quilting.

We woke up to a light snow this morning. The little girls had a ball playing in it. Dottie is Ho-Hum about snow but she gave it a sniff. She is very prissy about her paws and her skirt. Snow clumps up between her toes and makes snowballs in her skirt. I have to wash her feet with warm water every time she comes indoors from the snow. Dottie is feeling better and is moving around easier. She's by my side again and I love it. For now life is good again for her.

Not sure what this day will bring. I would love to have some quiet time for sewing. Maybe when the little girls go down for their afternoon nap.

Wishing everyone a beautiful day filled with hope and peace. Hugs.....

Happy Halloween! Monique, I'm sure you miss Bonnie...thinking of you today. Trunk or treat in town is the popular thing in our area these days. The only spooks I expect are our farm worker's 3 kids. I've got candy bags made up for them and leftover candy for any unexpected arrivals. It's supposed to rain here today with the temps dropping to the 30s by T-or-T time. I went out yesterday to cut down the flowers blooming on my front porch, but they were so pretty that I left them until today. The blooming season will be over now, for sure. Have a great day everyone!

          Morning all,
Day is off to a dreary start, hope it clears up a bit for the trick or treaters. I enjoy seeing the little ones in their costumes. I have snack size bags of potato chips for them and if they don't show up may be forced to eat some.... I know, hard job!

Sometimes I get the darndest urge to sew things that make me smile, and yesterday was one of those days. I made four embroidered Elf shoes that hold a small stack of oreo cookies to make the elf's leg. I'll take them to the craft fair with me and see how the do.

Wishing everyone a Happy Halloween, hope it's all treats and no tricks!

Re: It's Thursday and the last day of October WOW!!

Happy Halloween! We usually get around 100 trick or treaters but I doubt we will have that many this year as snow is in the forecast. All leftover candy will go to work with hubby tomorrow.

I got two quilts bound while watching ballgames the past two nights. Will try to get pictures up in Show and Tell later today. I have to drive hubby to a dental appointment for a root canal this morning. The endodontist is 70 miles away so hopefully we can eat a late lunch/early dinner out and not have to worry cooking when we get home.

I enjoyed the World Series ballgames. I said from the very beginning I didn't care who won as long as there were good ballgames. Well, they were good.

Is anybody going to do Bonnie Hunter's mystery quilt? I've never done one before but think I will give it a try. I won't be using scraps, but yardage.

Not much else happening here. Sewing room time has been limited but now that binding is done I need to get back to the sewing machine.

Oh, one more thing, I bought a new sewing machine. In 2012 I bought a used Janome 6600 and absolutely loved it. I've had it in a couple times for work on the bobbin case but it just never seemed to be fixed. The presser foot pressure dial broke several months ago as well so I started the search for a new machine. I looked at a new comparable Janome at our quilt show but just couldn't bring myself to spend the money. I checked e-Bay a couple weeks ago and there was a brand new 6600 just like mine for a very good price so I bought it. My daughter can't believe I didn't upgrade but I have a deep love for my machine and couldn't pull the trigger to change. Now I need to get into my room to use it!

              Happy Halloween!

The phones are bonkers already today, it's the end of the month or getting an early start for next month.

Trick or treaters here will be melting. They're saying it will still be in the 80s when the little ones hit the streets. We had a record high yesterday, expecting another today. Then tomorrow a high of 66. Over a 20 degree drop, that's going to feel cold, even though its still a comfortable temperature.

Nana will bring J over this morning. She has a luncheon and Morgan will be at Bible Study. He'll stay with me for a little bit until Morgan can pick him up. Mike will be home by 1. Kids will bring all of the kids over here to trick or treat, then they'll visit Nana and Nandy in costume. It's been a busy week.

Tomorrow, I'll be heading downtown to my next VERC appt. It's been over a month, so they're out of compliance. lol, it's their paperwork, not mine. I already have my reservations for transportation. As time goes by, I'm more cynical about this process.

I've got to find something to work on. Mike will be working the rest of this week, and has his schedule for next week. He'll be busy, which is good. He's a permanent employee now. Next step, to see if he can get more hours!

                Good Thursday Morning to everyone,

Monique, and all who knew Bonnie: Seeing how well she's being talked about, she must have been an amazing person. May her memory always be for a blessing.

Halloween is my second favorite day of the year (That "Last Tuesday before Ash Wednesday" being my favorite)! I love seeing people pulling out all the stops and inventiveness and wear their fancy dress. As a professional costumer, it's so joyous for me when (usually non-theatrical) people feel free to creatively costume it up. I made a Maleficent collar and headpiece (in the style of the original Disney Sleeping Beauty animated movie's Maleficent) to wear when I'm out making groceries and running other errands.

And, lastly, it's finally happened, I've been asked to participate in a Holiday Craft Fair. Now, I just have to figure out what to make!

Hope y'all are stocked up with plenty of treats for all your Trick-or-Treaters, and "just enough" leftover for yourselves.

Back to the gym today, the lights were on last night when we drove by so I guess they paid their bill.
It is very rainy here today but fairly warm. I hope it quits before the kids are out trick or treating. We live on a street of garden homes, flat with minimal space between houses so we are inundated with kids. Most are very polite and appreciative and I enjoy seeing them. I bought two bags of fun size candy bars, when they are gone, the light goes out.

Re: It's Thursday and the last day of October WOW!!

The sun is out briefly this morning. We've had 2 days of welcome rain, and now falling temps to below freezing tomorrow. More rain this afternoon. We'll take all we can get, but would share with California if we could.

I drove to Knoxville yesterday AM to fix a skirt for DDIL. Up and back before 10! It rained all the way, but I was behind the rush hour traffic. Then had to get my hair cut. Today I have an appointment with ortho doctor. I hope this pain in my hand and my heel will just require a cortisone shot. Those are bad enough!

I'm an old witch when it comes to Halloween. We have so many kids here that I don't turn on my porch light and hide in the back of the house! All the families in the county drop their goblins off at one end of our subdivision and pick them up at the other end. Last time I gave out candy I had 200 plus and ran out before dark. Now it's just too hard to get up and down to answer the door, and too cold to sit out. I'm just a grouchy old woman!

I've been busy helping a friend who has just been diagnosed with breast cancer. She had a chemo port put in yesterday, and treatments start next week sometime. I hope to get a comfort quilt made his weekend, just a small colorful one to carry around.
I also need to send an e mail card to my great granddaughter who will be 7 tomorrow. Where does the time go?!!

I hope the little goblins don't get you tonight! Have a great day!

Good Morning! I got up early to start my yogurt. It's cold and almost freezing rain. Sure not looking forward to winter.

We don't usually get Trick or Treaters here at the condo. The kids visit the houses but I only saw a couple last year. The schools and park district have programs for the kids that keeps them safe. Things were so different when I was a kid.

I finished "The Kiss" quilt and still must do a label. Too many projects are sitting here and need to be completed. All I need is a little motivation! Several quilts are sandwiched but waiting for me!

I watched the world series last night. My dad always loved watching baseball. It was a great series and I didn't care who won, just a good game.

Hope you all have a wonderful and productive day. Happy Halloween.

                          Good morning everyone,

It feels like the days of the dead for me. I've been down with stomach flu for past 36 hours. I slept somewhat ok, but feeling very weak. I was able to keep down the best saltine cracker ever and a cup of weak tea. I can't say for sure but I probably picked it up from babysitting sick GS on Monday. We usually skip Halloween and go out for dinner, but tonight staying home in the basement watching tv. Navy Wife, I know what you mean about kids being dropped off in neighbourhoods.

I had to reschedule my hair appt to next week, and thinking of cancelling plans for road trip this weekend. I think my body is telling me I need to rest. I told mom I wouldn't visit this week as I don't want to pass along any bug. That would be devastating in nursing home. I had to send out DH for ginger ale and supplies. He was gone a long time. Just not used to shopping.

                          Enjoy your day.
Enjoy life and do what makes you happy. Everything else will follow.

Good morning. We are having rain and wind off and on today. We were going to go into the city for dinner to celebrate my DD passing the Nursing Exam. we rescheduled for Saturday night. Traffic would have been horrendous. Since we will be home , I bought some candy this morning. They are predicting that the rain will stop for a few hrs around tricker treating hours.
I spent some time sewing and then spent some time cleaning up after the puppy. I have to just watch her and not do other things.

                            Have a good day-

                              Good morning all,

I woke up at 50, and turned over in bed, and all of a sudden it was 7:30. I slept for 10 hours last night. Yesterday I had a killer headache....it lasted all day despite taking Excedrin and later Advil, and I think it just wiped me out. All I did yesterday was watch TV and crochet.

We'll have a sunny day today, but temps in the 30's. It looks like dry weather for the next 10 days which will make the farmers happy. They're still trying to get the sugar beets harvested after the rains and then the snow we had. We're still under a flood watch for our area. The Red River is still out of its banks.

I plan to get to the sewing room today. I hope your day is blessed.
