Hello I am ThornCherish
I am in my mid 50’s. I started sewing when my first child was born. I made a rail fence quilt back then- that was 30 yrs ago. But i didnt know much about batting and didnt like the polyester batting i used. So for 28 yrs i made clothes for my self and family. I also made things for the house like curtains and chair covers and what ever. Two years ago, my best friend since 10th grade moved in with me and she encouraged me to quilt showing me Jenny Doan on youtube. Ive made about 15 quilts in these two years. I peeked inside an old very tattered quilt i have and saw flannel as batting. So now thats my favorite batting. I have given one quilt to each of my children and one to each of my siblings as well as to a few friends. I have 1st grandbaby on the way so im making baby quilts and blankets too. I have a crazy quilting fabric collection and love old sewing machines. I like to use treadle sewing machines as well as electric machines. Ive played with free motion quilting. I think treadle sewing machines are the perfect way to have a steady machine speed so i can work on getting my hands moving at the right speed. Quilts ❤️❤️Quilts

Welcome from Colorado. My favorite batting is Hobbs 80/20. I've been using it for many years.

Welcome from Florida!
I love vintage machines also :-) I have a treadle, but have not even tried to learn on it. I plan to figure it out when I retire next year.

Welcome from Ohio. Please share some pics of your quilts. I think the FMQ would be great on a treadle.

Welcome from Central Illinois, along the river.

I ,too, have a treadle machine and did make one twin size quilt on it... nothing fancy, but it was relaxing to treadle away on it. It has a rhythm all it's own.
