Pattern for lap quilts for individuals in wheelchairs
Does anyone know of a free pattern which can be used for making simple, yet practical lap quilts for those in wheel chairs. I have donated flannel fabric which would be perfect as whole cloth, no batting needed, washable, tactile and light but effective when it comes to warmth. Lots out there on the web, but no definitive sizing. These would be made for donation to local nursing homes. Many thanks.

Re: Pattern for lap quilts for individuals in wheelchairs
I looked for sizes for a wheel chair lap quilt when Mom was in a wheel chair. I couldn't find anything standard because there are so many styles and sizes of wheel chairs out there. I ended up measuring the width of her wheel chair and the length from her chest to her feet.
I wish Jenny's Blipper quilt had come out before I made Mom's!

Re: Pattern for lap quilts for individuals in wheelchairs
I’ve made several wheelchair quilts and donated
them to nursing homes. I just sat in a chair and
measured the width of my lap. Then measured
to the floor. I chose colorful fabrics and a
simple pattern because they would be
washed frequently. On a couple meaning
more to women I also stitched a pocket.
Easy to figure out your own pattern
and size. A great way to use up scraps because
of the small size. Have fun.
Don’t make the quilt too long
because it will get caught in the
wheelchair wheels.

Thank you for taking the time to give me some guidance! Appreciate it.
I did do a couple of demos, but since I won't be the only one sewing, I thought a pattern might be helpful as well as sizes. I'll share your advice and let them use their own creativity. Yep, they will be simple, but useful

I studied the picture of the Lovie Lap Quilt, and think I could figure out how to make one. It's just a matter of making a lap quilt with the pattern of your choice and adding a pocket to the front. Carolyn gives a measurement of 33 x 41 inches for the quilt, which seems like a good size; actually about the size of a baby quilt.

Thank you for taking the time to do that and provide me with more info. It doesn't seem to be an issue for me, but some of the folks who are sewing are a bit on the newbie side.
