I made an I Spy quilt using cotton 5 inch squares for the picture blocks and flannel for the border, sashing, and backing and it looked fine. Honestly unless the recipient is a sewer or a quilter, I do not think most people would even notice the difference. I did not pre-wash anything and it did not turn out wonky after the first wash and dry of the finished quilt.

Didn't Jenny just do a tutorial recently using annel charms and regular cotton yardage?

I think it would make an interesting textural quilt.

Yes, she did. I have not done that, but Eleanor Burns has mentioned that she mixes flannel with cotton.

Here's the link to Jenny's tutorial https://quiltingtutorials.com/tutori...-with-jenny:// and there was a recent post from a member who made a baby quilt using that pattern. giig21 https://forum.missouriquiltco.com/sh...ad.php?t=81979

I've mixed cotton and flannel and have not had a problem. I buy quality Moda flannels and do not prewash them.
