Default Can I make Jenny's Windmill block with fat quarters?

    Here's the tutorial:
    https://quiltingtutorials.com/tutori...ilt-with-jenny

She uses the large simple wedge template to cut triangles out of strip sets and it takes 8 wedges to make one windmill.

My brain says yes it would be fine but it's lied to me about ideas too many times to trust it and as soon as triangle math shows up it just runs away :lol

I have a lovely "steampunk" fat quarter & I think this would be a perfect pattern for them.

Are you going to cut strips from the fat quarters? Or just use 4 triangles of the print and 4 solids?

You could always try with some scrap fabrics from your stash and see what happens.

I think if you use your bundle for 2 1/2" strips, you would be ok. You would need 2 strips of each colour for each block. I would cut the 5 1/2" from yardage. You would then cut in 2. I would test with one block.

Thank you both! It always helps to have a sanity check! And good advice on making a test block.

I'll be using a solid or other blender for the background. When I visited Hamilton last month (so awesome!) I bought some if the Moda Grunge dots in light grey with the dots in gold metallic, so I may use a grunge w/o the dots as background.

Do be aware that the pattern is slightly off for that particular block. They taught the pattern at the retreat one year, and gave out the corrections. Unfortunately, I do not remember what those were specifically... I think the strip of solid fabric was either too wide or to narrow by half an inch, and can't recall which.
