Default Missouri* tote pattern - sturdy and simple for Sashiko

    Hello,

Iíve been playing with Sashiko, and would like to make a tote for a friend thatís Sashiko on a heavy denim/canvas fabric.

Iím looking for a Missouri* pattern for a simply shaped, sturdy tote that would lend itself well to this project.

    Thanks!

I'd google Tote bag tutorials on the internet. Depending on what type of tote you need.

Jenny's tutorial Three Big Bags from one jelly roll ( https://quiltingtutorials.com/tutori...one-jelly-roll ) uses strips,
It gives you the general directions of how to make a tote bag.

You could also use Bosal foam ironed on to your Sashiko instead and no batting on your strips used as lining inside, to give your tote more 'form'.

If you're wanting the handles to be from side to side. This pattern won't work. You'll need something with side panels on the tote.

If your Shashiko is small enough, you could use that as the pocket! I'd iron on some light weight interfacing to the stitching before making the tube for the pocket.

I seem tp be rambling, I hope this helps.

There are so many tutorials for totes out there. Here is a video search to take a quick glance at.

It's not M*, but there is a store in my town that I was told is the largest Sashiko dealer in the states. Check out Shibori Dragon....they are online as well. You will probably find something there.

ShabbyFabrics has a nice 3 (or was it 4?) FQ tote bag tutorial. I've made it several times and it goes together rather quickly.
