Oh that is beautiful !sigpic
God, Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The stash to make a quilt to help me cope,
A quilt to give to comfort those I love in times of hurt, fear and uncertainty.
And the courage to keep on sewing when life itself seems held together by a single thread of hope.

Love it! I love patterns that look very complex and complicated to make but are actually relatively simple. This has a lot of HST's, but they are easy to do and they come together here to make a gorgeous quilt! Thanks for posting!Courage is being scared to death, and saddling up anyway. ~John Wayne
Quilting is my passion . . . chocolate is a close second!

I love it, but wonder if changing the fabrics and being more scrappy would ruin the overall look? Keeping track of colors by letter has always been difficult for me, but if the background fabric was a dark color and all of the others were bright/jewel tones, do you think it would still be as stunning overall? Hmm...

As for making it scrappier, I think it would still be stunning IF you are careful to keep the same degree of contrast and value. Part of the beauty of this quilt is the subtle gradation of the flying geese colors and the square-in-a-square colors. Even if you substitute different fabrics, you will still have to keep track of where each piece goes.
