Memorial quilt for MIL

When my MIL past away after a lingering illness, I was just starting quilting and felt a desire to commemorate her and comfort my FIL with a quilt.
I took my design inspiration from a family story of devotion. My MIL loved to sit in their backyard and look at their lovely garden. When her health started declining, she became housebound, and then bed-bound, my FIL planted a climbing rose bush outside the window next to her bed, so she could still see flowers growing the garden.
I found this pattern that reminded me of the white lattice that climbing roses grow on, and tried my hand making my second quilt ever (Squares on Point - oof!). It was my first time trying FMQ. Learned so much on this project and it was well received.

Such a thoughtful tribute. I wish my first FMQ had looked that good.
