    Cataract Surgery went well

It all went well and I wasn't nervous.

I have to say I'm amazed!! Even though my vision is still a little blurry because of the eye drops I'm so excited. The dr didn't think he would be able to get that eye better than 20/100 with the surgery it's already at 20/40!!! The other thing I didn't expect was that I now have depth perception which I didn't have before. I've always had a lazy left eye. When I first took the patch off I was like "what's this??? Is this 3D???" Then discovered it's the first time I could see depth. I've been living in a flat world LOL. I can also feel both eyes working at the same time!!! I love it. It's going to take me a little time to adjust because it's like looking through the side car window where "items may be closer (or further away) then they seem".

But all in all I've a very happy camper :-) The next surgery (right eye) is Oct 10.

      Carlie,
Glad you had such a good experience and results are better than anticipated . My visual revelation was that grass was individual blades, not a flat expanse of green.

Glad to hear! I know I need to have my left eye done. I just keep thinking about letting someone cut into my eye and then put it off. One of these days I will suck it up ...

When MM had his done last year, we were surprised they did them both the same day! When I questioned the doctor about it, he said they have done it that way for years, however some doctors prefer to do them on separate days so they can charge for another surgery!! I could not believe it!

I'm glad it went well for you.

Karen, really, don't be afraid. You don't feel anything. You're numb, what little vision you have during it you really can't see what's happening. Just a few lights and black dot blobs. They just tell you to stare at the light so you do cause you could care less. Also your sedated enough that you really don't care what's going on. Easier than going to a dentist for a root canal where you hear the darn drill the whole time :-) I'd rather do this than go to a dentist, dr exam or lawyer any day! And the benefits are so amazing!

Bubba I have to admit that I felt safer having them done separately. I didn't want to not be able to see out of at least one eye during the healing process. Also I kept thinking well if something went wrong then where's my fall back eye LOL. I have to admit that at least your way I wouldn't have to put up with eye drops for a total of 2 months...just 1 :-) The good news though is I don't have to pay for any of this so the finances wasn't a consideration. I can see where charging for two surgeries would be a motive for some doctors though....the greedy lil buggers!.

So glad to hear your first surgery was such a success. After my first one 1 month ago, I was actually able to drive without glasses for the first time in over 30 years Woohoo. Now that my second eye is done (did it on Tuesday) I'm actually able to wear "cheaters" for reading, and don't need glasses for anything else. Now I can donate my trifocals!
And just wait a few more days and you'll really see the difference in colors (close your left eye and look at a piece of white fabric, then switch eyes and look at it) you'll be amazed at what you've been missing!
