Re: Cataract Surgery went well
When MM had his done last year, we were surprised they did them both the same day! When I questioned the doctor about it, he said they have done it that way for years, however some doctors prefer to do them on separate days so they can charge for another surgery!! I could not believe it!
I'm glad it went well for you.

Karen, really, don't be afraid. You don't feel anything. You're numb, what little vision you have during it you really can't see what's happening. Just a few lights and black dot blobs. They just tell you to stare at the light so you do cause you could care less. Also your sedated enough that you really don't care what's going on. Easier than going to a dentist for a root canal where you hear the darn drill the whole time :-) I'd rather do this than go to a dentist, dr exam or lawyer any day! And the benefits are so amazing!

Re: Cataract Surgery went well
Bubba I have to admit that I felt safer having them done separately. I didn't want to not be able to see out of at least one eye during the healing process. Also I kept thinking well if something went wrong then where's my fall back eye LOL. I have to admit that at least your way I wouldn't have to put up with eye drops for a total of 2 months...just 1 :-) The good news though is I don't have to pay for any of this so the finances wasn't a consideration. I can see where charging for two surgeries would be a motive for some doctors though....the greedy lil buggers!.

Re: Cataract Surgery went well
So glad to hear your first surgery was such a success. After my first one 1 month ago, I was actually able to drive without glasses for the first time in over 30 years Woohoo. Now that my second eye is done (did it on Tuesday) I'm actually able to wear "cheaters" for reading, and don't need glasses for anything else. Now I can donate my trifocals!
And just wait a few more days and you'll really see the difference in colors (close your left eye and look at a piece of white fabric, then switch eyes and look at it) you'll be amazed at what you've been missing!

I'm happy to hear that your surgery was better than expected. Take time to heal before your second eye.
Enjoy life and do what makes you happy. Everything else will follow.

Re: Cataract Surgery went well
Glad everything went well for you. I had both of mine done six months ago. The surgery is painless. I was quite surprised that everything looked so much sharper and colors were so vibrant. My only regret was that I hadn't done it sooner.

LOL it's probably the only time at age 71 that something will work better then it did at 20 :-) Now that is some feat!

I'm glad all went well and you see even better than before! What a feat! I had both done at same time but later had troubles getting cloudy again. After many calls i finally went to my husband's Doctor. 1/3 of patients have later problems. mine were immediate. but had laser surgery on both eyes, not same day, only took five minutes each. Can see better now, thread needles, etc. Very happy.
