I'd like to hang some my works on the wall and I was advised to use a caliper (yeah an engineering tool!) to width the borders and to set it perfectly. But I know nothing about these calipers. Do you have it? Which one should I buy?

Your quilt, your rules. Make your border width anything you want. I don't follow any set formula. I make them so they look right to me. What looks right with one design, likes different with a different design. Someone is always willing to set rules and sell you an expensive notion to comply with said rules.
As long as your corners are square, that is what counts.
If you have your heart set on following this so called rule they are referring to the golden mean calipers

Wow. Some people can be convinced to buy just about anything, I guess.
TRUTH is seldom appreciated, unless you happen to agree with it. When you don't agree, you just call it rude.
Maybe if you do a lot of "show" quilts ?? This is the first I have heard of using them.
