Default Make a "Building Blocks" Quilt with Jenny Doan

God, Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The stash to make a quilt to help me cope,
A quilt to give to comfort those I love in times of hurt, fear and uncertainty.
And the courage to keep on sewing when life itself seems held together by a single thread of hope.

Really love the look and the fabric. I am somewhat bothered by the fact there is no "sashing" on the left or bottom. What would happen if each row was reversed? It's still a beautiful quilt, but that does bother my design OCD a bit.

I see what you mean. What if you make 36 blocks and laid them out 6x6 and used the remaining squares to cut sashing for the left side and bottom. You could make your border a little larger. I like square quilts but I know not everyone feels the same. This would save you buying more fabric.

I like this one. Easy, quick and a good one to knock out quickly. I think I'll get some graph paper out and think about different lay outs.

It bothered me, too. I would have to add some coordinating fabric so that the left and bottom would have sashing as well. I do really like the fabric she used, such a cuddly looking quilt.

I noticed that. I like Barb's idea and probably would do that if/when I make this quilt. It's really cute! I love the scrappy look.

This is such a neat quilt and would go together fast. Somebody here was looking for a pattern recently for a large scale print that doesn't get too chopped up, and this would be perfect so I hope she sees this.

That was exactly what bothered me! I figured if I ever made this I would not do strips on the top squares and the same for the ones on that side. It really bothered me!

When I enter the world of patchwork my teacher taught us basic and simple techniques and this was one of them and I made a scrappy quilt with this technique to give to a girl who is now a teeneger and who still keeps it with love, I put a picture of the quilt and it can be seen that I use the same fabric for the both side and in plain colorsClick image for larger version.
