    Default What's a Nickel Worth?

Well, it could save you as much as $2.

I'm hemming some new curtain panels that I bought at IKEA. The last time I did so, it became super obvious that drapery weights were sorely needed. So I checked out drapery weights, hoping to avoid lead weights.

I discovered that the non-lead drapery weights cost as much as $2 apiece! So I looked at the 1" hem I'd pinned, and I decided that a nickel might just fit there. Sure enough it did, so now my panel is weighted by evenly spaced nickels encased in the hem.

Woo hoo, did that save me money!

Awesome save! I wonder if nickle washers would have worked>

Brilliant! Don't you just love finding a solution with something you have on hand?

Love your solution and thanks for sharing it! If your curtains are washable I bet you could even wash them w/o removing the nickels.

Actually, my sweet hubby went to CVS to buy two rolls of nickles. He's so supportive of my wild ideas!

Good point! I hadn't thought about the future, because I'm staging or house to sell. But I think you're right!
