It has been quite a while since I made my favorite style of quilt, a bargello. This is my own design which is a variation of the Trip Around the World concept. This quilt was made from 14 1/3 yard cuts (12") of Stonehenge by Northcott. Even the border comes from the 1/3 yard cut. I only had slivers of fabric left when I was done.
Bargellos are strip pieced. Here is my strip set all sewn together and ready to subcut into columns.

Here is the finished quilt. For me it invokes the dawn sun peaking over the horizon and lighting up the darkness.

I choose to isolate one strip at the bottom to highlight that the quilt was pieced from 14 individually fabrics ( as opposed to many of the beautiful printed gradients or ombres that you can purchase now). I also doubled the size of the blocks in the border to highlight the beautiful motifs printed on the Stonehenge fabric.
