    Well it's Wednesday!!

Good morning friends. It was another lovely day yesterday. The house was quite cool but outside was hot. I shut the kitchen windows last night so it would not get too cool in here. I spent most of the day in the sewing room, I am getting projects done for the SS swap, I am on a roll. My neighbour and I were talking yesterday. She has 3 credit cards and owes about $30K. She was talking about declaring bankruptcy. I suggested she contact a credit counseling firm and speak to them. Well she did and she has an appointment with them in early September. Things may not be as bleak as she thinks. When you get a new credit card to pay off another card, there is a problem. Hopefully things will work out for her in the end.

So today will be more of the same. My oldest will arrive sometime today. It looks like it will be just the two going to the camp, the third man can't go after all.

I was awake again very early. I could hear thunder in the distance. We are supposed to get rain today, we really need it badly. No grass to cut, it is burnt to a crisp, hubby is happy about that.

And so today I shall be holed up in the sewing room getting er done!!

    Have a wonderful day everyone.

    Re: Well it's Wednesday!!

Hi Everyone....It's Wednesday for sure. I had a nice lunch with my GF Janice yesterday. This was the first year I didn't make her something for her birthday. It felt strange giving her a "boughten" gift (as the locals say).

Our storms have passed on for a while and it's a little cooler and less humid.

I need to clean the sewing room and then I think I may shut it down for the rest of the year. I have too much on my mind and heart to be creative right now.

I'm off to get the laundry going and clean the kitchen.

    Love & Hugs to everyone....

      Re: Well it's Wednesday!!

      Good morning all,

Barb, your post sounded sad. Sometimes life can get so "heavy" that one just has to put aside all the distractions and push through. My mom was a big fan of "one day at a time", and sometimes that's all we can do.

Fall is definitely in the air here. When I let the dogs out this morning, it smelled like autumn. We're cooling down to the 70's and even high 60's both at home and at the cabin. It's great sleeping weather...I love having the windows open at night. But our spring / summer came so late this year, I am hoping for a long fall....no snow until Dec. 24 please!

I was at the cabin last weekend by myself, just soaking in the peace and quiet. The pair of loons that come every year to our end of the lake have one baby this year. It's getting big and starting to lose the brown coloration and look more like the parents. I LOVE the loons, especially their songs. It makes me smile to hear them last thing before falling asleep, and first thing in the morning. I'm trying to decide if I should head to the cabin today or tomorrow. I worked M. and T., and they were really busy days....lots of new products and rearranging. I have a chiro. appointment this morning, then I'll see how the day is going. I think my son and his family will show up at the cabin for the weekend.

One more load of laundry to throw in the machine. Blessings for everyone's day.

        Morning all......

So nervous; I have a job interview today with a long standing company in my area. An office job that would fit my skills and experiences to a T! I have such high hope that this is the one after 2 years here.....I gets so discouraging to feel desperate having to work jobs that aren't the right skill set and be willing to do anything to earn an income.

Still trying to complete the Moda Bakeshop 2019 Summer quilt along - At the Seashore. All my blocks are completed, I just need to figure out the layout and finish the quilt top piecing before I get the quilting started. I also need to figure out the backing fabric for it.

Halgal13 (Halona) started a job at McDonalds recently; she's getting more hours than I am at my job. My hours have been cut due to the injury restrictions acquired 2 months ago. And, workers compensation is probably denying the work injury claim - some days I can't win for losing? Que Sera Sera......

Good morning. We started sorting books again at the beginning of August & people are donating like crazy. Will be sorting this morning.

Weekend before last, my cousin & I went to Tennessee for my niece's wedding. We had a fun trip. The wedding was so pretty. She sang to her groom as she walked up the aisle. And of course I had scoped out quilt shops in that area. There was one on the road between our hotel & the church. So you know that we "had" to stop and look around.

Hoping you all have a good day.

Good Morning, Everyone ~ Whew! A hot one yest. It got up to 104! It's cooled off to 68 & we have cloud cover this a.m. Temps. to be only in the 80's today, with a chance of rain this eve. It will be a relief.

Today I plan to revisit the mattress place, take measurements of the mattresses, etc., then shop for deep pocket sheets at Kohl's & Target. I did a lot of browsing on line yest. I also want to price new feather/down pillows. Last stop will be the groc. store. It's time to stock up again on salmon for DH.

Barb ~ Your heart sounds heavy. It's tough when we are so concerned about our loved ones. There will be time to sew later.

Monique ~ Your advice to your friend re: CC counseling was a good one. We always pay off any charges every month.

              Re: Well it's Wednesday!!

              Good morning everyone,
I can hear the thunder roaring, and expecting the rain today. Ohh, here it comes. DH seeded & watered brown spots yesterday after he cut the grass. The rain will do some good. I am tempted to pull tomato plants as they seem to be done for the season. I am getting a sparse crop of beans, but the cucumbers are doing well.

Yesterday I quilted the VQC on point quilt while the cleaning lady was here, added binding and all handsewn by end of day. We shared a bowl of vegetable soup from the batch I made Monday. Last night we had the shepherd pie I made on Monday. This allowed me to sew and not stop. I also finished adding 4 borders to another quilt top. The center part was donated by a guild member but not big enough. The colours were not easy to match, so I just added borders.

              image.jpg. image.jpg

I called mom but she was busy having her snack, so her sitter told me that mom husked corn in the morning and asked to go back in afternoon to do more. I suggested they involve her where possible in cooking activities as mom always enjoyed cooking. Today they celebrate birthdays of the month and will also have corn. I have to get mom on pray duty for my son. After he saw the doctor on Monday for pink eye, she told him to stay away from work until next Monday, gave him another round of antibiotics. She has referred him to eye specialist as one of his pupils is not dilating. He did have a high fever, light sensitivity and swollen face from bug bite before pink eye showed up. I am concerned for him and he is worried as he has already been away from work a week.

Today, I plan to lay low again and sew. I have my own projects I've been wanting to get to. I might not quilt the 2nd VQC as we have a LA who does some for us. I am going with Dorothy on Friday to pick up 7 quilts she did over the summer. So there will be binding to attach. We can handsew or there is another member who likes to handsew the binding. We are fortunate for a well-rounded group of ladies. We will also cut some quilt kits for Sept & Oct VQC meetings.

Barb - I can understand wanting to clean up your room, but sewing/quilting and being creative can be therapeutic. Don't dismiss this!
Monique - enjoy your carefree days without the boys. How sad for your neighbour. I hope it works out, but it could be difficult to alter life-long habits. I have a friend I worry about. She's ok for now, but if she ever retires, she could be in trouble. She has no family, but lots of friends. Shopping is her hobby, even for things she doesn't need. We talk about needs and wants, and that material things are not substitute for a void. Believe me, I'm trying to get her to help me with quilting, maybe cutting and matching perfect fabrics together. She has a good colour sense but no desire to sew yet.

Enjoy your day. I'm ready for my 2nd cup of coffee. Stay dry, stay cool and be safe.

Edited: I'm so slow to type that 4 more have posted - NWMNTEACHER - how peaceful. I have been thinking about renting a cottage to sew. Maybe look for one to buy down the road - who knows.
Sherri - good luck with job interview. I'm not sure how this would work out since you're on workers comp. maybe different than here. Pcbatiks - I had a funny vision of you walking into thechipurh with ith your fabric purchases made along the way. Joy - hope you get the right mattress & accoutrements. It's like when you start renovations, it's never just one thing.

Suzanne - I have contacted an attorney; it was also stated by workers comp once a claim has been filed, it wouldn't matter on whether I was working the same job or not. My healing process is the important matter at hand. But, the attorney did state changing jobs while an appeal is started or on-going might complicate. My sanity means more and the retail job where I was injured is not worth my sanity anymore; not to mention the mental abuse and physical complications of getting better.

Good morning. Another hot day here. I was not home much yesterday. I need to catch up around here. I only have to sew the binding on my quilt ,& then I can get it in the mail to be nephew and his wife. My DS leaves for college tomorrow. He thinks we should drive through State College to let him meet the puppy. I think we will skip that idea and head straight home.

I also agree that sewing/quilting can be therapeutic. I stated quilting again 8 yrs ago. One of our DD had some serious behaviors that needed treatment. I had to do something to distract myself. Also helps me pass nights when DH is stuck at the hospital.
Sherri— hope the job interview goes well.
Joy— do you get a set number of days to try the mattress and return if you are not happy with it.? I find my sheets at Bed,Bath&Beyond. I tend to save my coupons for those purchases.

                  Have a good day all.

                        Good Afternoon All,

I've been busy in the sewing room. All the blocks are done, laid out and pinned in rows ready to put together. Mike went to work this morning. Pepper didn't get up until she realized he went out the front door... without her! She's whined off and on all morning, walking back to the front door.

Thank goodness, he'll be home in less than an hour!

I started laundry, didn't hear the buzzer. The comments earlier reminded me about what I should be doing!

I also save up my coupons for Bed Bath & Beyond. I love how they even accept expired ones on your purchases. On one of my visits the cashier asked me if I had any more coupons to use I said no that I hadn't realized they had expired. That's when she told me they even honor expired coupons and that their coupons are also good at The Christmas Tree shops since they own them. Who knew!

Chelea ~ Thanks for sharing the link. They did show that on our evening news a few days ago, but this was a longer clip. I had to come over to Google Chrome to watch it. I have an ad blocker on my Firefox page, & I couldn't view it there. That was probably the same day we high gusty winds here as a cold front moved in. I had to pick up many twigs from the honey locust trees in the back yard after the wind died down.
