Default The House finally got painted and completed! (pic heavy)

Yes, after 4 years of people saying they were going to paint the outside and never showing up, this month a company came and actually did it!!! I'm thrilled. They were polite, professional and seemed to really know what they were doing. They did a lot of repairs to the wood siding as they went along too. The house is over 100 years old so there was a lot of caulking and hammering tightening things up too.

I wanted to do before and after pics and thought I did but I think the befores got overwritten by the afters in all but one case :-(.

Here is a few befores and you can probably see just how bad it was. Particularly the north and south west sides:

The whole back (southwest) side was the worst as you can see from the railing sections in the only old pic I found. Yes most of the back was horribly peeled.

This is it all painted. Now if I can just get the owner to get that old stove on the back porch that's been there for months off I'll be really happy :-) (I've always really hated it when I see things that belong at a dump stored on house porches!)

Must say, she cleans up well! It reminds me of my Grandma Phillips's house in Greensboro. She had two tenants. Mrs. Riggs, and upstairs folks changed a lot over the years. What wonderful memories!

Oh such a beauty. It reminds me of a big old farm house. It must feel fabulous coming home, driving up and telling yourself Wow! I live here! This is MY house! I can feel how excited you are that this got done. Congratulations!!

open the oven door , pull out the racks and put your pots of herbs on it. Then it becomes a "décor statement piece" and not an eyesore. You could even find some old pots and pans and plant in them.

Oh, it's gorgeous! I love wrap around porches. I wish the newer houses had them.
