What is a good value for LAQ?

I am considering taking this last quilt to someone to LAQ it for me. What is a good value on a per square inch basis?

The shop I use charges .025 per square inch, they charge for trimming, and batting. They use dream weavers, which is my favorite to work with.

Prices here are .25 per square inch for regular quilting. Custom can go from $15.to $25. / hour. Canadian prices.
They charge for batting and thread, if you don't supply. They trim, square up. I have one LAQ that charges $20 to attach the binding.

I haven't had my full amount of coffee yet this morning. So if a quilt is 50x70 it equals 3500 sq inches. Times .25 cents??? So people are paying $875 for quilting?? That can't possibly be right??? What am I doing wrong at this hour of the morning!!!!

3500 x .025 = $87.50 (you had your decimal in the wrong place)

In Missouri LAQ is 1 cent per square inch.
Baby/lap quilts usually run around $30.00.
I provide the backing and the batting.

My quilter doesn't charge by the square inch. She has a has a chart with measurements with corresponding prices. I provide my own batting and sometimes thread if I want a color she doesn't have. Sometimes she has Hobbs 80/20 on her machine and if so I will use her batting. She is very reasonable on her prices. She recently charged me $40 for a Queen and she did a wonderful job.

For purposes of comparison I filled out MSQ's "quote form" and came up with .03 cents/sq.in. That did include batting. This seems to be about the going average rate these days, and people report happy outcomes from MSQ's quilting services.

I emailed the quilter I found local. She charges 1.5 cents per square inch and provides the thread and Quilter's Dream 80/20. So the cost would be $166.77 for the one I am working on. It's about 102x109". If I wanted 100% cotton batting she would charge $5 more. I was planning to quilt this on my regular home machine anyway, so guess I'll practice some more then tackle the job. I was just curious what the going rate was. It's probably regional.

Around here the professionals charge .02 cents per square inch and that's for edge to edge panto.

Custom can be anywhere from .03 to .05 cents per square inch. This is usually what people want when they enter their quilts in a quilt show.

What is the throat space for your machine?

I highly recommend Ann Petersen from Craftsy (Bluprint) Quilting Big Projects on a small Machine or
                    Marti Michelle Quilting in Sections.

You might be able to find something from them on Youtube.

Yes, this lady said she does edge to edge quilting. I am not sure of the throat depth of my machine, but I have done one queen sized on it already. I already have the backing and batting spray based on this one and will do it my self, but was more interested in knowing the cost in case there is a time I cannot quilt my own, either don't have time or I tackle one just too large to do.
