I have quilted my own string quilt on a domestic machine.

Here is a picture. It is the on to the right that is a string quilt, The first picture is just a scrappy one.

    Had no problem quilting it.

God, Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The stash to make a quilt to help me cope,
A quilt to give to comfort those I love in times of hurt, fear and uncertainty.
And the courage to keep on sewing when life itself seems held together by a single thread of hope.

    This was the first one:

Actually the quilting improved it: as one of my first quilts not all the blocks would lay perfectly flat before I quilted it.
I make string quilts all the time and yours is a beauty with that blue fabric.

I have quilted string quilts on my Janome MC6600 and my Handi Quilter Sweet 16 sit down long arm. No problem with either machine. I FMQ loops, swirls, flowers, stippling, etc. I like to mix it all up on one quilt. They all come out beautiful.

Thanks! I like bright bold colors as background against scrappy blocks. I had taken a couple of Craftsy FMQ classes (with Angela Walters and Christina Cameli as instructors) and I had a blast trying out different quilting patterns.

I might do it myself using a stitch in the ditch method if it does have some stretch to it. Some designs work very well with invisible quilting. Some look great with very noticeable quilting, such as lourixe's quilt above. That one is enhanced with the quilting.
