Pebbles or straight lines ?

Hi

I have been practicing some more and now come to a decision stand still.

I need your input.

I have made a composition and I now have only the small piece close to the rope border to quilt

And I can not decide if I should quilt straight lines or pebbles.

What do you think ?

You are so good. Love what you are doing with the acanthus leaves. If the only two choices are straight lines or pebbles I would go with the pebbles. It will take longer but I think it will complete the existing shapes better.

What about continuing the cross hatch background motif like you have in the center?

My first thought was more crosshatch too. I'm with Denise, my first choice would be more crosshatch, second choice pebbles. In my opinion, I don't think the straight lines would be distracting.

I would do pebbles - it would contrast the most with the surrounding motifs.

You might browse Tracey Russell's tutorials on YT for ideas for sashing & borders to come up with something altogether different. Her site is whirlsnswirls. She has literally hundreds of short tuts for FMQ.

I like the idea of pebbles as well. This will set off the other straight lines, let them stand out more. This is wonderful work.

I think I will have to put on some plastic sheet and test draw all of the suggestions.

Looking forward to seeing your completed design. My first instinct was the straight lines to contrast with the curvy lines on both sides, but seems like I am in the minority on that one.
