Was really upset and disappointed yesterday when the $500.00 Singer sewing machine I bought last year ceased to function in the middle of whipping up a quilt for my grandson. I almost forgot I planned to make a quilt for his high school graduation. This morning I set up this beauty I picked up at a yard sale last fall. It is the top of the line version of the Singer I learned to sew on.....a 1961 slant six. It was owned by a seamstress and was used until I acquired it. It came with a walking foot! This Old Betsy is humming along. I just may finish this quilt on time.

Re: Ceased to function
You are all correct about vintage machines. My Old Betsy performed magnificently!!! It was like sitting with an old friend. The weight is right on this machine. It is a sturdy machine. It was made for the job and does the job well. I finished the front and back.....and made binding. Now onto the quilting.....
Measure twice, cut once.
