Ceased to function
Was really upset and disappointed yesterday when the $500.00 Singer sewing machine I bought last year ceased to function in the middle of whipping up a quilt for my grandson. I almost forgot I planned to make a quilt for his high school graduation. This morning I set up this beauty I picked up at a yard sale last fall. It is the top of the line version of the Singer I learned to sew on.....a 1961 slant six. It was owned by a seamstress and was used until I acquired it. It came with a walking foot! This Old Betsy is humming along. I just may finish this quilt on time.

Sometimes the oldies are the best goodies. I know Bonnie Hunter does a lot of stitching on older model machines.

So very sorry about the Singer giving up, but how lucky for you to have that sweet machine to continue sewing on. I love the fabrics you are using in that quilt you're making. That's going to be a fun quilt!

Oldies are goodies and you can often fix them all by yourself!

I only use vintage machines. So many times I hve heard of a new computerized machines with all the bells and whistles letting their owners down and an old vintage girl saves the day! Beautiful machine!

I adore vintage machines. They don't build them like that any more. Yours is a beauty.

Re: Ceased to function
You are all correct about vintage machines. My Old Betsy performed magnificently!!! It was like sitting with an old friend. The weight is right on this machine. It is a sturdy machine. It was made for the job and does the job well. I finished the front and back.....and made binding. Now onto the quilting.....
Measure twice, cut once.
