    Yardage vs jelly roll

Directions for a quilt call for one jelly roll and I can only buy yardage. How much by-the-yard fabric equals one jelly roll? Thanks, Jan

1 jelly roll equals 2.8 yards of fabric.

But remember a jelly roll usually has lots of different fabric in it (unless the pattern calls for a single solid color jelly roll), so the fewer fabrics you use to make up that yardage, the less scrappy your quilt will look. But that's not a bad thing either, just depends on the look you are going for.

Get a little extra just in case the fabric isn't straight on the bolt.
