I personally like large meander. I have a sit down long arm but still do some on my domestic.

I love close quilting and usually do either straight lines vertically, or a continuous spiral starting from the centre of my quilt. I use my walking foot as a guide so my lines are usually about 3/8" apart so quite close. The closer the lines are the more they disappear and accentuate your patchwork pattern. The quilts do finish feeling pretty stiff but after a few washes and use they soften up and become just as snuggly as less densely quilted ones.
