What is this and how does it go??

So I was on a trip and got these quilt blocks at a thrift store for 2 bucks and figured I’d be able to figure it out good enough, but was I ever wrong!

The cardboard cutout it had says “Spools A 1 piece pattern.” But nothing I’ve googled has gotten me even close! It looks nothing like any of the spool patterns I know of or have seen.

Like, how do they fit together? Do they need some fabric between? I’ve sewn quilts before, but not like this! Lol

Any help would be appreciated!

Karen is absolutely correct.

If you aren't familiar with curved piecing you will want to research that too.

Thanks so much guys! It’s going to be fun now that I know for sure how it goes together! I thought it was that way, I just didn’t think it was a Spool quilt.

Another question, is there any way to tell what size the quilt is without laying it all out and playing around with it? I suppose there is a downfall to picking up a gallon baggy of quilt squares in a thrift store lol

I would build a block maybe 10 " square, count the pieces in the square, then count how many total pieces you have. Divide the number of pieces in the block into the total number. That will tell you how many blocks you have. You can take it from here.

I have a stack of large apple core pieces cut out. anyone want to sew them together for me? Kidding. hopefully I will get to them. I also recently found a package of Quiltsmart printed applecores you sew onto the fabrics and slit and turn right side out. no raw seams that way. they are smaller. i may try them out one day too! Have fun!!!

Thanks so much peoples! I’ll try to post pictures when I’m done. I did end up laying the whole thing out and it’s very small, so I bought some white fabric to do every other one with, and it should be a twin sized quilt, so that’s going to look neat!

Don't forget to make bias (not straight) binding for this!
