OMG my husband just spilled coffee on my quilt top. Any suggestions would be appreciate. Can I wash the top, wash the coffee out and dry it, leave it until it is quilted oh what! I am frustrated!!
Thank you
Excellent advice but be sure to 'stay stitch' around the outside of the quilt before soaking so you block seams do not pull apart. 1/8 inch should do it. I am sure the cool water and Oxy will get out the coffee.
No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted.

Only once did I make the mistake of setting my cup down on the cutting table. Hit it with a ruler and now I had a mess. It was a whole lot of light colors in a lone star. I immediately took it to the shower and rinsed in cold water with the handheld sprayer. Blotted with a towel and hung it to dry. Nary a hint of stain. Don't know what may happen if the coffee is allowed to dry some before rinsing.
Oh jeez I hope you can get it out! If not? Well tea dying fabric to make it look vintage was big in the 80's so you could possibly do that if you have to. I never did that but I always wondered what would be the point, after several washings wouldnt it just return to its original color? Good luck.
Black coffee should come out better than coffee with cream in it. The fats in the cream will set the stain more( at least that's what a dry cleaner friend told me}
“What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world, is and remains immortal.”
Thank you all for your comments. I washed with cold water and just let it dry. There are a couple light spots barely visable but I know it is there. Am hoping with the quilting you won't be able to see it especially since it will be very close to the binding.

I've been wondering how it turned out! Maybe once it's washed a couple of times after it's complete, the stains will continue to fade. So happy you were able to get most of it out.
