    Lone star 2019

    Hi

I went to the quilt shop on saturday and got myself some fabric for my new project.

I have spent 2 wonderful days at the sewing machine and it feels great.

I am making a lone star quilt and this is how far I got so far.

Something is not right. the block do not come out the same size.
I am not sure if it is stretch or ironing but I will keep investigate.

The 2 quarter of the star are not stitch together, just pinned.

And I got the cutest Quilt Police !

The stash to make a quilt to help me cope,
A quilt to give to comfort those I love in times of hurt, fear and uncertainty.
And the courage to keep on sewing when life itself seems held together by a single thread of hope.

They do stretch when pressing. You can make a pressing template on muslin by drawing lines where the seam lines should be, extending the lines about 1/2" beyond the line for the outside edge. Then, sew over these lines with contrasting thread. Then, when you press your diamonds, place them on top of the template and line up the seams with your lines on the template. It is so easy to stretch those bias edges, be very careful when pressing especially if you are using steam. It will be pretty! But I've made 4 so far, and struggle to get all the diamonds the same size!

Well, I got the star almost done.

I think I can fix most of the wonkiness within the 1/4" seamalowence.

And the rest I think will quilt out. ( I hope )

Now back to the drawing board to figure out the border squares.

At least I am happy with how the points match. I did fairly good there , I think.

Now the centre is done with framing border.

It is a bit bubbly and wobbly and not so straight, but it is alright because this quilt is for me.
It is good training and I think that I might be able to quilt out some of the wobbliness. ( Fingers crossed )

Now I am gonna cut some strips and do a bargello tube for the triangles that will complete the quilt and make it more square.

            Have a nice Weekend !

It is looking great so far! Most lone stars tend to bulge in the center. All the little irregularities along the way seem to show up right in the center. But yes, most bulges will quilt out!

It's so pretty, Annika. I think it's going to be a beautiful quilt.
