Need ideas for fishing themed quilt

Help! My husband and I like to fly fish and he has asked for a fishing theme quilt. I have some fabrics with bobbers and fly fishing related items and fish, but I am having difficulty coming up with a design. Anyone have any ideas? I;d like to keep it a simple design so that i can finish in a month or two. I love working with 5" squares, and i just got the tumbler template as well. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks!

I saw a tumbler quilt a while back which was a fish quilt. I will see if I can find the picture. I remember they used 3 tumbler blocks. These would be horizontal blocks not the usual vertical ones.

Don't know why this is paper pieced, but since you have the tumbler template, it should work just fine.

That tumbler fish quilt is darling! One idea from that would maybe be make 'fish' using batik or some kinds of fabrics that look like a fish would look and then use the bobber/other fabric as borders? or maybe a row of fish and then a row of bobber fabric? Definitely giving me some ideas, so thank you for that.

I was also thinking maybe some plaid fabric would work well somehow incorporated into the borders.?

You have some great ideas. Also, I think long wavy lines would look good for the quilting.

This one is a four patch which is super easy.


I think for this one I would Probably stitch the fish pictures onto a sheet. Might look neat if you could find something with a net look.
