    Default It isn't square

I just finished sewing borders on my baby quilt and it isn't square. I guess the seams in the center pull in a little bit so he corners instead of being 90 degrees are more pointy. I know now that I should have squared it up at each stage of the quilt but I only did the individual squares, and the way the quilt is sewn the seams pull in in the middle. I tried stretching it as I spray glued it to the backing but that only make the backing buckle. I might have to take as much as 1/2 inch off each corner (2.5 inch border). Would it look better just to leave it unsquare? Not real thrilled with this quilt anyway. It is for my first granddaughter (after having 6 boys) and i went overboard with the flowers!!! It was made with a set of 10 inch precuts. I have a matching jelly roll but now am afraid to used it - kind on going into a diabetic coma looking at it! : 0 My next quilt is going to be so much simpler - quieter!

Just leave it as is. Nobody will even notice except you esp after it is all quilted. The colors are pretty and girly. She will love it. Congratulations on your first gd!!

I agree with JJ, go ahead quilt and bind it. Nobody will notice once it's being used.

Surely the q uilt won't be folded and put on a shelf but drug around and loved. How square would that need to be. Finish it and let the child know that its hers to use or misuse. It will get lots of love . And....it is beautiful

I agree with all of the others. It's nothing to be concerned about. Quilt it, bind it, wash it and gift it, and it's going to be loved. And my bet is that once you have completed it, you will love it, too! Your fabrics are beautifully girly!!!! Love it. WooHoo for a little girl at last!

It's unanimous. Just quilt it as is. It will be loved and used. Congrats on the first granddaughter.

Seems like the quilting will distort my quilt a little so I almost always end up trimming down border to make the space equal so the binding will look straight. The binding looks straight but the quilt is definitely NOT squared. It really is so hard to even tell it. So I am with all the others .... leave it and quilt away.

I join the crowd. Not square is fine. The quilt is lovely.
