    Default Wednesday hellos!! Welcome SPRING!!

Good morning friends. Today is a happening day. It's Hump Day AND the 1st day of Spring and half the week is over. I am happy that Spring is coming. I am really getting tired of winter.

I had a good day at VQ yesterday. I had a huge bag full of magazines and they have all found a new home. Happy about that. I picked up a few groceries along the way.

In the afternoon I set up my quilt frame in the spare room. The butterfly quilt is now in it, so I will be working on that these days. I need it done very soon.

So, have a great 1st day of Spring. It promises to be a fairly warm day today.

Good Morning ~ Anita, I don't know where you find all these cute pics, but I love them all. Some are hilarious.

Well, I made a final check of yest.'s DD last eve. & it was sold out, which was a good thing. I was sorely tempted.

Today is Bible Study Fellowship. I'll have to leave a few min. early in order to make it to an 11 o'clock appt. for a follow up check on my hand. One of the ladies from church is in the nursing home next door, so I'll run in & see her for a few min.

I really hope I can get to the sewing room today. No more time now.

    Oh happy day!
I was up early but waited for the thread to show up. I called our local paper for roll ends of newspaper. I was only able to leave a message, so I will drop by and see if they have any. These are really useful, so many uses. Small road trip this morning to LQS to pick up my free monthly metre of my choice.

Yesterday was busy quilt-related day. I cleaned the books and stuff on the bookshelf in my quilting room. I pulled out small patterns to put In my new holder. I will need to cut more hanging folders. I put aside duplicate copies of patterns for my GF. I also stored small packs of xmas fabric in the xmas bin. Looks better. It's good to re-acquaint myself with all I have. A good reminder that I don't need anymore fabric, books or tools.

Dorothy and I also went to the LAQ who volunteers to quilt some VQs. She did another 5 and all beautiful. Dorothy will drop them off to another lady who will sew the binding. LAQ's sewing space is to die for. I was drooling. It's above a 3 car garage. It's filled with light, and plenty of space for her full frame Gammilll, large 10-12' cutting table and seating area, and shelves for her staff. She showed us a beautiful quilt that she is working on for her FIL. It's with William Morris fabric that I have been purchasing. Then we went to pick up more batting and backing from our area coordinator for VQ. She was struggling to cut the batting, as she hasn't had a cutting bee for a few weeks. Dorothy & I got in there, and cut two full rolls of batting, folded and put them on her shelves. She 's an older lady and seemed to be out of breath. I told her I am 5 mins away and can come by on a moment's notice to help cut.

DH wrote his radio license test. He'll find out results next week. He said he struggled a bit. I applaud him for doing this, but I know there are many steps to getting pilot's license. By that time, other issues, age, may prevent him from accomplishing this. In the meantime, he is enjoying the experience.

Enjoy your day. Time for another coffee.

Enjoy life and do what makes you happy. Everything else will follow.

Every day I try to do one thing that challenges my comfort zone.

    Good morning everyone,
It's chilly here but the sun is shining and the birds are chirping in the yard.
Today is a cooking day; I'm trying a new recipe for the Instant Pot...Chili Lime Chicken. It smells really good so far. I did some housekeeping in my sewing areas, finally putting away the threads I was considering from my last embroidery project. It's so easy to just sweep things aside instead of putting away.
Yesterday I got out the cover stitch machine and hemmed the bottom and sleeves of the shirt I'm making. I had forgotten how difficult it is to thread the looper...I was cussing a blue streak by the time I got it right. Cut some fabric for a spur of the moment quilt and got them glue basted so they wouldn't shift when I serged them. This is an experiment and I hope it goes well.
I should get a delivery of quilting thread today so I can get my log cabin sandwiched and quilted.
It surely is a good thing I'm not a slave to my house. Another busy day cooking and sewing but no cleaning. Dust bunnies don't bite, right?

    Good morning everyone,

Yesterday I spent the day at a class my quilt guild sponsored. The facilities and friendship/fellowship were great. The class itself was very frustrating --- at least for me. And very expensive. We needed a lot of different fabrics and then when we got there, the instructor said we also needed the pattern -- another $8. The class was a star table runner and, for me, was very difficult to put together. So difficult, I only got one triangle sewn (but it had a Y seam). Any way, the guild is going to have a follow-up class next month so we can work together and help each other try to get this table runner complete.

Have to do grocery shopping today --- not much left in the pantry or fridge.

Take care and have a wonderful day.

BethB, Sitar has a tutorial on utube that you might find helpful for Y-seams. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DBztmnqK-M

Suzanne, what are the types of things you use the end roll of the newspapers for? I have a pipeline into our local newspaper so I might find that useful too?

I didn't realize today was the first day of Spring. Yipeeee! Yesterday I noticed quite a few crocus blooming which was surprising because I had been keeping an eye out for that to no avail. I just may get outside today since it will be in the 50's and turn over my smallest garden. Yeah, just to start getting myself into shape :-)

@ BarbaraB... I hear ya on the bottom looper moment and four letter words! I went to you tube so many times trying to get mine threaded. I have been lucky in the last few times at the tie a knot when changing colors. I have seen tutorials on using a serger to do double sided quilt as you go ... on my list of something to try.

Today another medical appt for my dad. Some kind of doppler mapping for his circulation, foot specialist suggested we get one for a base line in the future. Need to be proactive in saving his other foot/leg for sure.

Need to reschedule appt with his heart doctor, we hand to cancel when he was in the hospital.

Still battling that ugly UTI and looks like another specialist will be added to the mix, a urologist. Find out more info in couple of days what the next culture shows.

They did do a cast for a fake leg joint thingy, but still waiting on the insurance to approve so they can make it.

I would love to have a week of NO APPOINTMENTS of any kind.... But for now I truly enjoy a day here and there of just being a slug bug.

Mimi, I can relate! It seems like that’s all I do sometimes is go to medical Apt’s. I’d love a break.

Today is another sunny and warm one around here. I got my exchange blocks finished and sent off yesterday and finally buckled down and got serious about making the binding for the king quilt. Maybe today will be a good time to start getting it put on. It’s gonna be a beast.
Ordered some project bins from amazon that are due to be delivered today. I’m really looking forward to getting my current wips organized and in bins. I made a deal with myself, I have room for 12 bins, when they are full, no more new projects until I finish one, so only 12 wips at a time. Hopefully with few or no, ufos . Although I have a few projects that I’m not currently or even recently working on that are true ufos (like the wool embroidery wh class I took). I’m not willing to throw them out but I don’t have the skills yet to finish them. The someday club.

I have my first sleep doc apt. Today. I’m pretty content with how I’m sleeping but who knows maybe it could be better.

    Good Afternoon Everyone,

Late to the party here, but boy did we have a pretty good home school morning. With J getting here in the dark, it was a great time to start with the first day of spring lessons. We talked about the sun's rays hitting the earth and how that changes as the earth goes around. I'll have to hunt for my 'sun' lamp base. This morning we used a flashlight to see how the angle of the sun's rays changed on the globe. Nandy came a little early and picked J up to go downtown to the practice times for the basketball tournament. Nana and Nandy's alma mater are playing so J's getting a treat.

After he left, I started making more activities for him to do. He wants to work on antonyms, so I pulled together 10 packs of words for him to work with. Then I made 10 packs of alphabetical order work for him. I should have enough made to finish out his school year. He has enough practice to work on these independently, while I'm setting up something else for him to do.

Tomorrow we'll have home school in the morning, Morgan works tonight. Then tomorrow afternoon, I go to the vision rehab to have my first interview and get started on a plan to help me getting around, etc.

I've been working on 1/2" hexies. I bought some tea towels and I'm going to use the hexies as trees and wreaths. I'm hoping they'll look nice by the time I finish hand stitching them.... or maybe, I'd be better off to attach them with the machine.

Time to think about dinner. Mike picked up hamburger buns, we're having meatloaf burgers. I need to figure out the sides.

Prayers for those in need, and prayers of thanksgiving for all of our many blessings.
    Katrina
