Default Quilt setting with machine embroidered blocks

I love including machine embroidered blocks
Into my quilts. It does seem to limit the settings.
Sashing strips, alternating blocks with pieced
Blocks. Iím looking for something different.
Iíve searched the Internet, not really much
available. Im asking if anyone else has come
up with an interesting way to piece a lap quilt
    with machine embroidered blocks?
Iíve just bought Sherri Baldy embroidery designs,
the big eye little girls are so cute.
Iíd like to find a really unique way to use
    them in a quilt.
    Thanks, happy Quilting

There are many options for your quilt. The batting can be layered into the EMB or not. Either way will work for the quilt. You can machine EMB the sashing strips and add to the blocks. I have also used plain fabric blocks and/or sashing strips between EMB blocks. Add a full layer of batting and then quilt patterns in the plain blocks.

You can use a fusible batting and add it onto the sashing strips. I cut them about 1/2 inch less than fabric so the batting is not in the seam allowance. It is a little tedious.

You can make the EMB blocks on point also and then add the setting triangles.

You could just embroider as a quilting motif. It takes patience but then you have the design on both sides of your quilt

I had made several Irish Chain quilts with embroidery in the center plain blocks. To me, those plain blocks beg for fancy quilting or embroidery. I'm in the process of making another one featuring simple butterflies embroidered in the plain blocks.Click image for larger version.

    P.S. I love redwork quilts!

You could place all the embroidered blocks in the center of the quilt, and then the pieced blocks around them. Or Pieced blocks in the center with embroidered blocks as the borders. You could also place a solid block in the corners of the center section for a little more variety.
There's also alternating rows. One row of embroidered, one row of pieced, etc.
