........sewing day
My friend and I belong to a group that makes sanitary supplies for girls/women in Africa. Today, Nipsy and I sewed several, then I finished them off on the serger.
I have owned several different brands of machines, Singer, Pfaff, Brother, Juki and now this Bernina. I am pretty sure I will never buy another brand machine, if I ever have to. This thing has oomph! I got to wind a bobbin and I was flabberghasted!
Trust me, if you ever find a good deal on one of these, take it if you can. You won't be sorry!
pat.

I know what you mean. My Bernina is over 30 years old and I still love her.

Re: ........sewing day
My Aunt Lois had an older Bernina that she took everywhere for her entire life...she wouldn't even try another machine.

Kudos to you and your friend for working on the sanitary product project. Lack of sanitary supplies is one of the main reasons girls drop out of school in under-developed or poverty stricken areas/countries.

Oh I am envious. You have an air-fed serger? I have a White serger, over 30 years old. It ploughs through anything, but ohh to have the threads whizz through would be a dream.
Do you have a pattern and type of fabrics that you use? I might be interested in making some to send.
Enjoy life and do what makes you happy. Everything else will follow.
Every day I try to do one thing that challenges my comfort zone.

Re: ........sewing day
I wish I could provide a name of the project, as well as patterns, but I really don't know. We go to a church where all the pieces are cut out and we are basically assembly workers!! I think my friend knows, but sadly, she is in Australia for the next eight weeks and I can't contact her!!!
I will try to get the info in a couple months when we go again.

We make these at our church and send them to Zambia. There are never enough- the women and girls line up by the hundreds to get them! I hope this link works! If not I’ll find another way to post some directions on here. There are some tutorials on Pinterest; it just depends on what style you want/need to make. Let me know if this link works.
