I've bought two kits, both from JoAnn, but I don't know if they were the same manufacturers. The first one was a baby blanket that had all sorts of fabrics textures put together. I had just enough for that one.
I'm building one I bought for half off after Christmas. I know I would never have paid full price for this one. So far I've had 2" pieces or less. They gave me less than WOF cuts. The biggest left overs have come from the appliqué cut offs. I'll have to see what's leftover after the backing and binding are done.
I have a laser cut appliqué kit of an elephant from Connecting Threads that is waiting in my sewing line up. I'll have to see how that goes, but it's not getting done soon.

I have purchased quite a few kits from Connecting Threads (lots of fabric left over) and one from Craftsy (also fabric left over). That's a plus in my book.
