Better late than never...

In November of 2013, I got a 9° wedge ruler and my wife came to the LQS and helped me pick out some fabrics for a Christmas tree skirt.

Fast-forward to December 2018; I quit my job to go back to school full time. [Leaving a career in plant science/horticulture to pursue a degree in Elementary Education] I finally had a little free time at the beginning of this month where both children who were born in the interim ince buying the fabric were in daycare but classes hadn't started for me yet. I wiped the dust and cobwebs off the sewing machine and finally got the tree skirt sewed and quilted. It is still waiting on binding but I guess I've got a few more months before that has to be done to use the skirt.

I think the take home message here is; If your husband says he'll do something, he'll do it. You don't have to bug him about it every 4-5 years.

Hard to tell from the picture but I quilted it by going from corner to corner of each colored block following the spiral that is created by the color offset. It turned out quite nice and Mrs. HandsomeRyan was happy.

I bought some pre-made dark green double fold bias tape I intend to use to bind it but I also considered adding ruffle trim to the outside instead. I don't know?

lol, Jonathan was asking me when I was going to finish my hexie quilt. I told him my goal was this year. His reply was, well you've got plenty of time. I predict you'll be finished December 2. That's my goal... not really, I'm hoping earlier.

I don't bug my husband either, when he starts a project. He is Currently working on a quilt for newest grandson born August 2018.
