I am so sorry that you and your father are facing challenges. It's never easy as our parents and our loved ones age. I am certain that he is very happy that you are there with him even if, at times, he needs some solitary moments. He will have to adjust to his new reality.

Sending you virtual hugs and positive thoughts that the surgery will go well, and recovery will go well. Take some time for yourself. Even if it's enjoying a nice cup of tea, or a glass of wine.

Enjoy life and do what makes you happy. Everything else will follow.

Every day I try to do one thing that challenges my comfort zone.

Mimi, I'm saddened by your post. What a very difficult time you are going through, as is your father. It has to be a very difficult decision to have to agree to an amputation of any body part. I pray you and your father may remain strong throughout this difficult time.

Prayers for you & your father during this difficult time. I can't imagine how your father is trying to come to terms regarding amputation. Let him know we are all praying for quick recovery. Take care of yourself too.

Popping into give quick update, made it through surgery and in quite a bit of pain, but also very loopy from the strong pain meds. Evidently while he was under he dreamed that me and him robbed a bank. I said did we get lots of money? He said 50,000 and it was a very nice one story bank and they were very accomodating to us! I said well once again we did a TEAM effort. I chose to tuck him (so to speak) and leave so he would stop trying to stay awake to talk to me, he needed to relax and let the pain meds work. He was a little ruff in asking the nurse for ice but then followed it up by apologizing, saying... I don't be mean to be dramatic but I know what I like and what I don't. Loopy for sure! The did a below the knee amputation.

Thank you all for your prayers and support. I wish I could give out real HUGS to all of you!
