For all of you with zipper phobia, go to You Tube and search for "zippers are easy." Annie (of ByAnnie.com) does a wonderful job of instruction. She has made several videos, each demonstrating a different technique for a unique purpose. You can do this!

Thanks! Batman, though not a great conversationalist, listens to all my profanities and doesn't judge me. He sees how frustrating bag making can be at times but just stands there quietly so not to poke the dragon and risk a fire bath. LOL!

Caroline - I would definitely take Pat up on that offer!
I've had success with a Debbie Shore (sp?) video involving zippers on bags that made it quite simple. I also found that using a double-stick tape instead of basting or pinning really helped me: the one I have is by Dritz, but there may be other brands out there: https://www.joann.com/dritz-washaway...s/3496254.html

I generally use several 1" pieces, rather than one long piece; I know it's "cheating," but I need all the help I can get!

Zippers are also my nemesis. In HomeEc (remember that?) when we had to do zippers I always brought my project home and my Mom would do it for me. Shhhhhh! Don't tell Mrs. Eubanks. She thought I did a wonderful job!

Jenny does a really good tutorial on this as well. It's the little bags made out of candy wrappers. Check it out. It'll make you believe you can do it, as is the case with every tutorial she puts out!

Blue Calla patterns are probably the ones I purchase the most. Easy to follow instructions and I always end up with a bag I like. Like most people though, I tweak every pattern I buy to work for me. Including changing some of the techniques.
