what about a lone star quilt, (this is a jump in the deep end of swimming pool idea not knowing your skill set)
the strips may make the star then add another fabric or fabrics to enhance and make the gold pop.
have you sew 45 degree diamonds together before?
or sewn Y seams?
other wise consider M* star Block its at top left of forum page
have used 2.5 inch strips, for squares, diamonds, triangles, half square triangles, so many flying geese, so don't let the strips stop your creativity.
happy choosing
I have some lovely reds with gold, greens with gold and blues with silver. I could go on. black with gold is wonderful! most should be on sale now after Christmas! have fun.
If you don't want it too Christmassy then stay away from red or green. Maybe a nice pink or rose? Dark blue is also good. Jenny has a tutorial called the Ribbon Star. I haven't made it but it's been on my to do list for awhile and looks pretty simple. It's for a jelly roll. And welcome to the Forum from Wisconsin!
Ok here is a pic. Not the correct one but a close second! Mine has a lot of gold glitter thru it.
BTW...thanks for all your responses...I'm overwhelmed.
If you are uncertain, there is no need to rush into sewing them. These are lovely neutrals to add to your stash. Hold onto them and something will present itself in time and you will know exactly what to do with them.
Blogging ahead.....research in quilting and sewing with a dab of cooking/recipes too.
