    Default Re: Rotating Cutting Mats?

I have the Martelli rotating mat and love it. From Jan.3-5, they are holding their 50% off sale, the last time they will offer this. I have two big Martelli mats, plus the rotating one, they are the best.

After a fairly hectic Christmas, we finally got around to making the rotating mat. While my husband cut out the wooden pieces, I cut down an old mat to 14.5" square allowing a 14" square cutting area. A non slip mat was glued to the base (hot glue gun).

Afraid I couldn't take a video of it turning, needs imagination . I've used it and couldn't be happier.

Hope you all had good Christmases and New Years.

I've been quilting 8+ years & never have purchased a rotating mat. I do just fine without one.

I've been quilting for 35 years and love this mat. Especially as my husband made it.

I have a rotating mat (think it's an off brand bought at Joann's)..It is a two piece, has a base and a cutting mat that sits on top, no ball bearings, just the two pieces. The cutting mat part just turns when I turn it, and te pieces I am trimming stay put! I find it works well for me, and will be honest, though I've been quilting for many years, I wouldn't want to be without it....especially when trimming and squaring HSTs. I find it invaluable. I think the one your DH made for you is wonderful!

I have three rotating mats - different sizes, some round and some rectangular - and couldn't imagine not having them these days.
