What would you make if you were making a red quilt?

Today’s daily deal https://www.missouriquiltco.com/shop...-10-karat-gems reminds me I would like a red quilt. I like the disappearing hour glass https://quiltingtutorials.com/tutori...ass-2-tutorial but all that recutting. I don’t know? What quilt pattern would you use?

I really loved those reds. Just the color red I like. Buttttttttttttt, I don't know what pattern I'd use :-) So I'm curious what others would make from it too. I too like the hourglass but I ruined the only one I tried..........

We have a member in our guild who has made many red & white quilts. Some are pieced blocks; some are made with hand sewn needle turned applique. She always carries her sewing basket with her to guild & hand sews during the meetings. I've forgotten her name now, but we had a guest speaker at guild last year who specializes in red & white quilts. You might just try googling it or browsing Pinterest or the web for ideas. Jacob's Ladder is one pattern that comes to mind. If you don't want to use just those reds, add some blues & make a Quilt of Valor.

I have a jelly roll of ...Wilmington Reds, I think.? that I intend to use with cream/ivory/bone and make red stars on a cream background. Maybe with some additional feature, like red squares on point in the corners of the blocks.

It's kind of far down on my list of plans, though, so by the time I get to it, I may change my mind. I also think it would be nice to have about 5 or 6 different types of red and cream blocks. Not just stars, but a few more old fashioned blocks, like churn dash, nine patch, more I can't think of.

Do a redwork quilt and have 4 or 9 patches on the diagonal to separate the blocks.

I think I would make a red and white hunters star.

I'd try an Irish Chain. I love that pattern.

I don't know that I would make an all red and white quilt, personally, but if I had it, I would use it for a QOV or add to green/Christmas fabric for a Christmas quilt.

Kathryn Kerr of Green Avenue Quilts, who started the 365 quilt challenge a couple of years ago, has a block of the week called "Etoiles Rouges" featuring 49 variations of red and white Ohio Stars.

I would make ( and have made) an Irish Chain. I used redwork embroidery designs in the white blocks between the 9 patch blocks. It is one of my favorites.

I made this one some time ago......it's not quilted yet as I hand quilt. It wasn't hard. One block, just turned in different directions.....at least that's what I remember......we'll I checked. It's four blocks, made into one that you turn.

                          I used this pattern:

Anita - that is one beautiful quilt!

I think I would make a Drunkards Path. (There are a couple of methods that do not involve curved piecing! Eleanor Burns appliques a circle onto a square then cuts it into fourths.)

The first thing that comes to mind is a Hawaiian quilt that I saw recently. What a lot of work though. I believe it was all hand applique', it was stunningly beautiful. 55.jpg
