    Default Happy Thursday!!

Happy? Happy that it is one day closer to Friday. I tell you, the one I work with will drive me to drink, I can't wait for the week to be over with. She is getting under my skin. Our mail truck didn't come until 12:35 so it made for a very long morning with nothing to do.

My one bright spot yesterday was the Christmas Cheer dinner we held for the seniors. They so look forward to this social event every year. No one walked away hungry including the workers. I have such a wonderful feeling after this event. I did see one senior that I hadn't seen in a while. She is the mother of a friend. We hugged. She told me that I don't age at all that I look the same as before. Her daughter was put out (jokingly) so I told her that I was her mother's favorite. We had a great laugh over that, so I have adopted a new mommy, LOL!! I like to do a walkabout and say hello to everyone before dinner.

So yes, today is another work day. I think I need the serenity prayer.

    Good morning everyone!

Oh Monique you cracked me up......perhaps a few swings would be just the ticket to get you through the day! Just kidding. But the toon made me laugh! Just what I needed!

Didn't accomplish much yesterday, or at least it felt that way. Suddenly discovered I have a GD who may be interested in sewing! Yippee! So now the rush to make up a small sewing box, filled with goodies. She's only 5, so I'm trying to reign myself in. These interests can be fleeting at that age. But I'm making her a small pincushion in her favorite color - purple. Not finished....

Gotta get groceries and more errands today.....so I gotta get going. I've already cooked 2 #'s of bacon......oh so much to do, so little time. Well, at least that's how it feels. No decorations, except 2 wreaths. Gonna have to put the tree up, sooner or later......I just soon wait another year, but for the grands, it'll go up.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day. Prayers for Suzanne's mother and Pam's husband, along with many more. Hugs to all!

Good morning Monique and all to follow. I haven't been able to be here since Monday morning. I had an update and clearing of cookies and cache on my computer and it signed me out of a bunch of places including M*. And I couldn't remember my password. I tried a bunch of times, then you are locked out for a bit. Tried again, no luck. Sent a message to administrator but kept trying myself and voila'!! Finally last night I got it!! So I have been trying to catch up on things a bit this morning. I was sorry to hear about Suzanne's mom's fall and Pam's hubby's issues but happy to hear they have ruled out .a stroke.

I have been keeping busy getting ready for the craft fair this weekend. Just trying to get everything organized in my bins and in my head and remember all the incidentals I need to bring -- like getting small bills for making change. And I am so looking forward to meeting Cathy at the fair.

Monique, I love your version of the serenity prayer. Good luck getting through the rest of the week. I'm glad you had such a nice time at the dinner for the seniors. Sounds like they all had a wonderful time. Anita, how wonderful that your gd is showing an interest in sewing.

Time to switch out the laundry so I'm going to get going. Have a wonderful day everyone.

    Good Morning All,

Yesterday was busy, J arrived for home school a little early. He plugged in the Christmas lights around the front door while he was waiting for me to get there! Didn't realize it until last night when Mike went to plug them in. Mike did a minimal lighting last night only what was on the remote, none of the battery powered candles and such.

After school and Mike got up, he and I went to Lowes for the extra wrap for the pipes. I do wish those guys had listened to me this past summer, but they didn't. So there's a bulge over the shut off valve. I'll have to ask Jim if I should do something about the outside faucet. I don't think we did last year. Who am I kidding, I'll have to walk around the house to see if there is more than one of them! I just don't do outside well at all that was Howard's domain and I gladly left it to him!

Jonathan and I managed to get the rows of his quilt stitched together. I dug out two backing pieces for him to choose from and there was enough left over batting from Melinda's quilt to put the batting in. Today if we can get through his school work, we'll get it put together so we can 'flip' it. I don't want to go digging through boxes again to find something to bind it and it's small enough that there shouldn't be a problem. He's determined he wants to give it to their neighbor's baby.

Monique, I hope you have a great day. I have those same feelings when I'm riding around town with Mike.

Anita, it's exciting when the little ones want to share in your hobby. I'm loving this time with J, even though I'm not letting him loose behind the machine, he does love sneaking his foot on the 'gas pedal'.

Ginny, you need what I found at Staples on a 'back to school' spending trip. A book, set up like an address book, but it's for passwords! It gives you lots of spaces to update passwords. I write mine in pencil so I can just change it. That thing has been a life saver!

I hope everyone has a great day!

Prayers for those in need for healing, strength, comfort, wisdom and hope. Prayers for all of those that have been in mother nature's path of fury this year. Prayers of thanksgiving for all of our many blessings.
    Katrina

Good Morning, Everyone ~ It's 25 deg. & light snow. The ground & streets are covered. Looks like a 1/2" or better out there. And I have to go out in it this a.m.! I have PT at 10:30. I had planned to run some errands, but I may put them off till another day. I'll see how the streets are when I get out there.

Yest. after Bible study I went to the groc. store. Needed salmon for DH; his supply in the freezer was totally depleted. I bought 3 large filets. I cut them up into 1 serving sizes & freeze them. So he's good now for 50 days. In the eve. I prepared some gifts for mailing; they're books, so I'm hoping I can save some postage by sending them media rate.

Ginny ~ Do you have CCleaner on your computer? It removes cookies. I never stay logged into any web sites. I log off to all of them & keep my computer shut off when I'm not using it. You're putting your computer as risk for a Trojan or virus & lots of cookies when you leave your computer on. I had my laptop in the shop last April to get rid of a Trojan. Now I routinely run: CCleaner, Malwarebytes, Defraggler, Disc Cleaner, & an anti-spyware program. The computer specialists put these on my laptop & showed me how to use them. I run the CCleaner daily, the Defraggler is monthly , the others I run weekly. These are in addition to my Microsoft Security Essentials virus scan which is run weekly. So far so good. These programs all are free downloads.

    Time for DH's breakfast.

    Good morning everyone,

It was so slow going yesterday morning, with an obvious bout of arthritic pain. I guess I have been skipping meds. Mom had her hip surgery yesterday morning and all went well. My son went to see her at 7:30am after his shift, and before surgery, so she was happy to see him. He said she was herself. That was good to hear. I think the previous day, they were maxing out her pain meds making her loopy. She was back in her room late afternoon. I went to see her after dinner, as there was a lot of accidents at rush hour due to black ice. The roads were better. She was quite alert and her usual self. The scar is about 6", but I didn't see the doctor to learn which technique they actually used. I helped her with her glasses and dentures. I also read her the comments from friends and relatives on FB. She is always amazed that I get news from people that way. Then I called a few cousins, and they spoke to her. I will go later this morning, and then I have a massage this afternoon. I will go back after dinner. I am lining up visitors, but spread out so it gives her and me a break. She said that she thought she was a goner, but we laughed and said, it's not you who decides when it's your time. I believe things happen for a reason. The power of prayer and her faith is strong. She will need it, as she recovers.

Monique - that prayer is a hoot, and I love this version. I'm glad you enjoyed the dinner for seniors, your community is definitely great at bringing people together. One more day with annoyance.

DH is seeing the ophtamologist this aft, to get his cataracts checked out. He now wants it done sooner, rather than later. His motive - he doesn't want it to interfere with gliding in the spring. Whatever it takes.

I dropped off new eye makeup to my DD. She has a stye and everything gets thrown out. I buy Estée Lauder creams, and I do it when they have free gift with purchase. So I usually get lots of lipsticks, mascara, eyeshadow, sample creams. I can only use so much, so I usually pass it along to friends, and to women's shelter at this time of year. I think she is starting to feel overwhelmed about hosting xmas dinner. We are still cooking the ham and many side dishes. She knows I do a lot, but we are thinking to minimize the work. There are local restaurants that will cook your turkey, stuffing and fixings, and you pick it up. Since our big dinner will be on Dec 23, this may be best option. Our kids are all busy with young families, so time crunched.

When I went to Victoria quilt meeting on Monday, one of the ladies brought in 3 large garbage bags of fabric scraps from a local company that makes sheets, bedspreads and curtains. They give them to the group. I got one bag to sort through and find 100% cotton. Gorgeous fabrics, cotton sateens, quality stuff the remainder we set aside for other ladies who will put together bags to hold the quilts.

That's it for now. I hope they find the cause of Pam's husband numbness. Lots of people in need of prayers, hugs and encouragement. Thank you for your kind and well wishes for my mom.

Enjoy life and do what makes you happy. Everything else will follow.

Every day I try to do one thing that challenges my comfort zone.

Today and tomorrow are suppose to get in the 40"s but come the weekend we are expecting a minimum of 12". That is the Asheville report. We are in the high mountains and they say it will be more. This is suppose to be record breaking...more than the blizzard of '93 when we got 4 feet at our house..plus drifting. Oh my, I can't wait..not
Didn't do a darn thing yesterday except man the woodstove and make soup and chex mix. I made the original 1952 Purina Ralston recipe before general mills bought out Chex. It is simple and plain with no pretzels, melba toast or extras. Just chex, and nuts and seasoning. I enjoyed it..Dh complained. Oh well.
Today I'm getting the propane heat fired up in my shop and I will make some embroidered towels. If DH decides to go, I would like a hostess gift for a party on Friday and one on Saturday. Right now he is saying words like, "I don't really want to go, do you?" and my answer of course, as the good wife is , "well, not if you don't want to" because I know I won't go alone and if he doesn't want to go it wouldn't be any fun.
I have to do some Christmas shopping. I need to get DH some new slippers and I'm hoping to find a 2 3/4" metal pole. I ordered a street sign for DH to rename our driveway in his honor. Can't put it next to the road we come in off of (county says no) but we own the drive (1/2 mile long) and I thought I would put it along there for fun.
Monique, I hope your day is better. Women do not make very good bosses. Seems power goes to their heads and they always want to prove something to thehigher ups.

Well, I guess the grands went to the home school co-op this morning. lol, I have the top of Jonathan's quilt spray basted and cut. He can pick out the backing.

I worked on Mike's Christmas presents. I made him a tree skirt and stockings a couple of years ago. This year, I made him three packs of glass filled ornaments. Howard and I'd purchased the fillers and ornaments after Christmas last year. He was looking forward to making them with me, so getting them out was hard. One set has tiny jingle bells, one set has the white sequin snow flakes, and the last set has the little snow balls and a small Christmas tree. That's the set that's drying in the drawer now.

I'd bought him a suitcase for travel earlier and I'm filling that with different things that he doesn't know about (ornaments+).

Jonathan should be here before long. He'll stay until his Dad picks him up after he gets out of school. We'll get what we can get done take care of and the rest will wait.

I'd better eat lunch, so I'll be ready to get started.
