How about using the thicker pieces as part of an applique?
I was looking at the things my little dog wears and many would be perfect as centers or petals of flowers, If there are lots of colors, there are many things that could be appliqued. I think it would be nice to have those special pieces from her pet all over in some design. Good luck. You can do it!

I had the same project earlier this for my son and daughter-in-law. I took most of the fabrics from the jackets and incorporated them into different basic blocks. A few I highlighted as a block on their own. I didn't use any pictures for this quilt.
I'll try to attach a photo so, hopefully this makes more sense to you. The black thing hanging down (second row, second block) is a hood from one of the outfits and the pink one hanging down (fourth row, second block) is the hood from their favourite unicorn outfit. I made each block to finish at 12 inches square.

I hope this works as I've never posted pictures here before!

That's wonderful Maria. I love what you did with that center piece. I have some questions.

Did you use a stabilizer with the jacket pieces? Did you hand sew the some of those embellishments. Did it wash ok or are they using it as a wall hanging?

Thank you, Carlie Wolf. It took me a while but it was a fun make.

I used SF101 stabilizer with each of the jacket pieces as they were stretchy fabrics. Everything was machine sewn (I did break a needle or two ). They puppy paws were embroidered on with my embroidery machine. I wanted to add more but the quilt was too thick and on the heavy side for my machine to handle.

It washed very well and my daughter-in-law uses it all the time!
