Default REPLAY: Crumb Quilting with Jenny

God, Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The stash to make a quilt to help me cope,
A quilt to give to comfort those I love in times of hurt, fear and uncertainty.
And the courage to keep on sewing when life itself seems held together by a single thread of hope.

She is so funny! "If anyone looks inside your quilt to see which way you ironed they are NOT your friend." That made me laugh!
Love the idea of crumb quilting. Being new I don't have much of a scrap stash.......yet.

It won't take long to develop a stash.

I ordered the daily deal today! Random end of bolts equalling about 7 yards! It sounded like a good way to get a variety.

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, and I am a total recycle/reuse kind of gal. When I started quilting, I instinctively saved everything, and I couldn't bare not using all the end bits and bobs. Lo and behold, this video gives me validation!

I haven't thrown all my scraps into one box, though, and usually keep them separated by the original project.

Hmmm..... I can't seem to upload the photos of the quilt top I made from the "crumbs" of my second ever quilt...

Ooooooooh! I figured it out! I reduced the size of the photos I was trying to upload, and voila!

The pinwheels and detailed center sashing are leftover "crumbs" from the second quilt I'd ever made, and the design used up every single scrap! It's a little cringeworthy to see the lopsided and uneven piecing, and simplistic design, but it's all about learning and practicing and getting better, right?

Yes, all about getting better but there is no shame in simple designs. They are lovely, too.
